Need a laser level and have been watching reviews. So far all are product-provided and no reviewers have done the obvious thing: check the line with a bubble level to show the laser's accuracy or inaccuracy.

How do I use it for spot lights on ceiling please?

This laser is not capable of showing lines on the ceiling, this is simply just a cross-line laser. You will need to look at a the Firecore Cross-line 360. Hope this helps.
