This is the best axe making video. I’ve watched it 3 times. I’ve been making axes with only hand tools. Mine are not nearly as straight as yours. Great work!

Thank you for taking the time and making this great effort to share the knowledge and skillcraft you’ve built on your own with us. People like you, who’ve already done the work, and have most likely also made all the mistakes and ran into all the pitfalls and frustrations of this particular skillcraft while having to teach himself all on his own? But you’re still willing to share everything you’ve learned along the way to help out people wanting to get into this skillcraft, and share what you know so that maybe we can avoid the pitfalls and frustrations you’ve encountered? Artisans like you are a gift from the Gods. You don’t hoard and ration out knowledge like some gatekeeping miser of skill and skillcraft. Artisans like you make the world of artisanry and craftsmanship a better and more wholesome place to be. And you deserve to know all of that about yourself.

Hello from Alaska/ Tennessee! I just finished up a little tomahawk for my daughter that she will hopefully have forever. 1045 body with 80crv2 edge. I really like the solid medium carbon steel hatchet construction! I gotta make one like that someday.

Howdy! Thanks man! Sounds like a cool project

@@FireCreekForge it will be a nice tool for a young lady to get some chores done. I would really like to see you make a big axe like a connie or tassie pattern. I'm working on one but don't have a press so I'll be working on it for a while.

It's 2:30 AM in India, and here I am watching an axe being forged. Don't know if others out here find forging really satisfying. And can we order your art pieces?? I mean will you provide international shipping. Anyway Cheers mate ❣️

This was super informative thank you for sharing. About what size do you forge to before beginning the process? I’ve been struggling to figure out good starting dimensions

You really put a quality on your hatchet all process is done, but why not edge quench so you dont half to temper the chick, and is 1060 same as 5160?
@FireCreekForge2 жыл бұрын
I like to have a hardened and tempered poll so it can be used as a hammer. 5150 is 1060 with .8% chromium in it. Which, of course, makes it a very different steel. Thanks for watching!
