So, the way I do Multi-Bar knives is I make my core first, then forge out the edge material twice as long as the core... after that I wrap the edge bar around the core (heating it at specific points before I do my bends) then forge weld it together (paying attention to give the tip a good smack or two on a swage block to make sure that it doesn't delaminate)... jsut a little tip to make things a little less complicated 🙂

I have become addicted to your videos! I have learned that there is so much that goes into the making of a quality blade that the average Joe would never even think of without the information and insights that your videos provide, and I find that I am quite fascinated. Only one thing I would like to mention is that your commentary is occasionally not easy to hear so I wonder if you are a bit far away from the microphone sometimes? Still very glad that you don't spoil things with unnecessary music though! Best wishes, David (Melbourne, Australia)

When you were cutting the V for the blade tip I wondered if you keep a cut off pile? I have seen some craftsman take there Damascus drops and put them together in a canister weld to make items. I was curious if you had done or thought about the same?

Man that is so beautiful. I kinda like how the core isn't even. I don't think it got close enough to the edge to hurt anything. Can't wait to see the final product. I already know it'll be amazing. What kinda testing will you do with a blade like this? Or will you make me wait to see? Lol

What do you mean my power core? Is it just adding the damascus for decoration?
@FireCreekForge
@FireCreekForge 3 жыл бұрын
the core of the blade is Damascus, for decoration and strength qualities; the term is just what I’ve heard to describe that design.

The main one I use these days it newjerseysteelbaron dot com There are others; Jantz supply has some good stuff, the best thing about them is their flat rate shipping that is cheap, I've also used Admiral Steel. Nobody offers all the same thing.

Awesome thank you. I got stuff off Amazon that shipped free with prime membership and lately been getting steel from blacksmith depot and that is much better than Amazon. I didn't have to grind any mill scale to make damascus just acetone. I think I'm gonna try jantz next. I really want to try using 80crv2 and 15n20 to make my next billet.

The Arkansas toothpick was not interchangeable with Bowie in its day!! The men who worked the river area preferred this specific double edged profile, preferred pull cuts...they were noted bu social commentators of the time that they lazed around picking their teeth with their daggers, these knives became known as toothpicks, generally seen as a gentlemen’s knife as a working man needs a single edge. The gentry and therefore society started referring to these as Arkansas toothpicks... the clipped Bowie we see now was an English invention in massed production form but originally inspired by Spanish fighting knives and the Mexicans. A 19th century man would know the difference immediately if asked the difference and a Bowie knife and a toothpick were not the same.... this is an academic error used to generically term all American knives under a single banner...

Well, I don't claim to be an expert or a historian on the Bowie knife, but the bit of reading / research I've done seems to suggest the opposite.. Do you happen to have some sources on the subject? Thanks for watching
