A note to update. Bob Gaffney, bassist, passed away earlier this year (2018). Steve Hadjapoulos, flautist, passed away in 1991. I'm the vocalist / acoustic guitarist in back.

Great band. I saw Firefall in Ohio in the late 1980's. Rick Roberts was on vocals that night. That was easily one of the best concerts I've ever been to! When they did "Mexico", it brought the house down! I think on bass that night was someone with the last name---Hopkins?? I can't remember!!

It makes perfect sense that the fellows of Firefall would be on Ralph's show. The Byrds launched The Flying Burrito Brother, who launched the Eagles and Firefall. The country flavor was perpetual.

Oh, hello, famous person! So cool! My amateur band plays this song, and the crowd (numbering sometimes in the dozens) always goes wild. I play keys and sing back-up ("didn't you need a frieeend"). It's a very prominent part, integral to the song as a whole. They won't even do the song if I'm not there to sing that line. (Just kidding... I'm babbling because I'm typing to a famous person who may actually read this, and I've never been read by a famous person before. Carry on, don't mind me! ...Carry On, by the way, is another song we do.... over and out.)

Once and for all, folks....how many people do you hear yelling "Where's Steve Perry" at a Journey concert? Bandmembers come and go but the band remains the same. And it's the goddam SONGS that matter! In a nutshell: Firefall started out as Rick Roberts, Jock Bartley, Larry Burnett, Dave Muse, Mark Andes, and Michael Clark. Larry had ongoing health issues and was present for maybe half the gigs. Michael Clark was replaced briefly by Tris Imboden, and Mark was replaced by George Hawkins. The standing agreement in the band was, that anyone who left forfeited the rights to the name. By 1980, the last man standing was Jock Bartley who by now had no band but a name still viable in the business. Jock recruited some new blood, all veteran studio musicians and singers from South Florida. The "new" Firefall began touring in 1983 with a single briefly on the charts, "ALWAYS". When the single tanked, touring became difficult and costly. By 1989, the entire SoFlo group of musicians had been replaced except drummer Sandy Ficca who today is the longest standing member besides Jock. Rick made a brief return in 1989, but his health could not tolerate the road. A couple more lead singers came and went. David Muse returned to the band a few years ago along with Mark Andes, making the present line-up the closest to the original band in nearly 40 years (3 out of the original 6). Firefall continues to tour successfully to this day.

This is not the original lead singer. Rick Roberts suffered a brain injury in an accident. When he recovered enough to go back onstage, he was sort of snubbed by the rest of the band and he decided to form another band, Winter Rose. Although Jock Bartley is also a founding member of Firefall, he did not originally sing lead on this song. I'll give him A for effort but it just sounds too forced to me. It's like Pink Floyd without Roger Waters, the songs on which Roger used to have the lead and were then sung by David Gilmoure just didn't sound the same.

the distortion looks like cb radio bleeding through. someone running a linear amplifier on their rig. should have walked over to their coax and shoved a pin it. then use flush cutters and snip the the pin. good luck finding that without a time delay analyzer.

You are incorrect. Jock Bartley (in blue) was the original guitar player but NOT the original singer. Rick Roberts was the original singer of this song and had left the band at the time this was filmed.
