Firefighter prays with driver rescued from semi hanging off Louisville bridge

The scary, intense scene unfolded on the Clark Memorial Bridge in Louisville on Friday. Firefighter Bryce Carden said he prayed with the woman as he got her to safety.

While that’s funny, I sorely hope she is not later faulted or fired. It may have been the semi that hit comedian Tracy Morgan but I recall a story where tragedy turned from empathy to anger once the investigation was complete.

So amazing the firefighters rescued that lady! This is a great example of team work. I’ve seen the firemen doing different scenarios of rescue at their practice area, but I doubt they practiced this. All the combined training and team work paid off! Thank God that lady is ok. Everyone made it that’s a good day!

Fantastic Rescue. It’s going to be taught in high angle rescue classes for years. The bridge itself is probably not at any major risk. It looks like the damage probably is to the deck plate and side rail, which don’t carry the static load of the bridge itself. As long as there is no major damage to those vertical and diagonal beams above, and that large connection point just forward of the truck, the bridge repair probably will not be too bad. Weirdly the fact that it’s a 100 year old steel bridge means it’s more than a bit over engineered. And this appears to have occurred next to one of the bridges strongest points.

Amazing how she hit the bridge at that certain spot to go over. I’ve crossed many bridges with just a waist high guard rail in a semi and it’s not to fun. This bridge looks completely safe and difficult for a semi to do what it did. Glad it turned out to be a happy ending

after watching several videos about this accident i have finally discovered the whole incident was caused by a person driving aggressively in a pickup truck doing erratic lane changes. as a truckdriver myself this just burns me up that this poor girl nearly lost her life just trying to making a living because someone was driving in an aggressive manor. truckdrivers always get a bad wrap and in my 35 years as a commercial driver i have seen some bad truckdrivers but still it seems alot of multiple vehicle wrecks involving a commercial vehicle are caused by cars.
