This pissed me off. The mayday was taken lightly and no mayday tones were put out. Need better communication.

A mayday was issued and I heard no tones, no traffic was cleared, and command acted like everything is fine? Uh uh no. A mayday is issued its "all hands on deck".
@Thisguygetsit87968 жыл бұрын
Brandon Henderson actually its all hands switch to a different channel unless you're directly involved in firefighter rescue. and continue to do the job you were assigned.

Fire Lt Andre Kelly suffered 2nd and 3rd degree burns to about 20-25% of his body. Lt Kelly was flown to Crozer-Chester medical center where he is listed in critical but stable condition. Lt Kelly has under gone a bronchoscopy to determine the status of his airway. There was some swelling to the upper airway but the lower airway was clear which is good news. He will remain sedated for a few days at which time the test will be repeated. We will keep you advised as Lt. Kelly makes continued progre

Lt Andre Kelly is alive and well. After recovering from his injuries he was offered the job to be one of the Fire Marshals. A report was created by the City of Lancaster to determine what lead to the incident. It found that low staffing and lack of communications were the main problems but no matter person was blamed for the incident. Policies have been revised and updated.

I think most of the firefighters were together so they were talking not useing the radio

With a truck company right behind them, first due engine should have laid in, secured water supply and got a handline into the structure to protect rescuers and victims. the truck and second engine could have done the search.
@taylorwilliams75438 жыл бұрын
honestly I think there should have been better communication between the fire fighter and the officer in charge

The battalion chief and/or command, plus the dispatcher should be terminated. This is an absolute disgrace to the profession. I hope this firefighter sued the britches off Boston.

Jesus Christ....mayday called and no clearing of the air, no switching ops to another channel. Are you TRYING to get someone killed?!
@chuckbronco64852 жыл бұрын
Your aware 90% of Maydays are cleared by members already inside the building. Switching channels doesn't achieve anything but loss of continuity in rescue efforts.
@Greenhat03115 жыл бұрын
Lack of quick acknowledgment of the mayday and clearing radio traffic almost made this an LODD. The IC needs to take control of the scene and learn to how properly communicate with his crew. Otherwise great job to the crew getting him out of there with injuries that he is able to recover from. RIP to the victims that didn't make it out.
@Duzzy9513 Жыл бұрын
Lack of acknowledgement? Command literally initiated the engine company to search once he confirmed the mayday... you don't just send people in without zero confirmation or an idea of where they're going. 🤦🏼♂️

The way he said “Engine 2, go inside and get lt. Kelly” sounded like he was thinking “what a draaaaaag.” These are the people responsible for these kinds of accidents

@MrFdny718 you can't be serious, if my state does in fact have the highest death rate what does this have to do with this incident? You cannot use this incident alone to base your assumption on how other depts in the state operate. There are thousands of great firemen and fire depts in Pa, this incident was the result of a lot of underlining causes. Things that you cannot gather from just the audio. I'm disgusted to think you call yourself part of the brotherhood after a comment like that.

It’s obviously bad communication. I hope the clowns you’re referring to are the leaders of this scene by not establishing a clear channel after the mayday was called. And not these firefighters who were injured and trying to help. If so do me a favor and go fuck yourself, better yet go make another video of an accident scene while you’re driving down the road like a dumb fuck endangering other drivers lives.
