Im a junior in high school with a bad gpa. Im worried that they're going to not let me enlist.. My top priority is graduating first, then community college, emt school and volunteering before academy. Firefighting is my dream and I'm going to give it all that I have to get there.

Does anyone have a preference for weather to go through firefighter academy or EMT first? I felt like possibly doing EMT first, simply for the reason that I feel like that’s the part that would make or break the job for me- seeing how I deal with the medical side of the job, dealing with the stress of that (for me personally) seems much more daunting than the other parts of the job, so might as well get that off the list to make sure I’m even cut out for it. This may be a weird question, but I have my own career and am interested in being a volunteer firefighter. Do I have to be clean shaven? Or are rules for volunteers flexible? For reference I keep my beard at a 3 setting on my beard trimmer and haven't had issues with it while wearing cloth / surgical masks
@gregorybennett58652 жыл бұрын
Honestly as long as you have no leakage around the seal of the scba face mask you should be fine. Some volunteer depts require clean shaven while others just dont care. Mine is relaxed as long as its not a heavy beard that will definitely block the mask from having complete suction to the face.
