Firefighters Crawl Across Frozen Lake to Rescue Deer

Firefighters crawled on their hands and knees across thin ice to perform a delicate rescue. Neighbors noticed a deer stranded on top of Pike Lake in Minnesota and called authorities. A team arrived and formulated an unusual plan to assist the struggling buck. Instead of sliding a stone across an ice rink, the firefighters used instruments to slide the deer across the ice and onto the shore towards safety. He may have been frightened, but the buck was not hurt.

@@Ann-sj4pt what I mean is that's what part of wild life cycle, you don't simply and also can't really "save" it. God knows how many wild animals died of their own cause every sec. I also understand why these firefighters did this as I sometimes feed peanuts and foods to squarrels in my yards too.

This still shouldn't have been attempted on thin ice anyway, you can get on your hands and knees but if the ice is too thin its not worth rescuing a deer or any animal for that matter.

Be careful when saving animals from the ice. A few years ago in my hometown someone tried to save a moose from the ice but the moose was actually a sereal kill and murdered the person trying to rescue them

Much respect, but seems ultimately pointless. That deer within days likely dove off a bridge or cliff, or jumped into traffic, or landed on a metal railing and disemboweled itself. If it wasn't hunted by animals, or by man. It feels like an unnecessary risk and cost to save an animal that barely even survives in the wild.
