Now disabled, I no longer can sleep under the stars surrounded by the guardians of the night. I once was an avid camper and outdoor survivalist. These days, this video is the lullaby that helps me sleep through nights of pain and poor sleep. It is the most realistic and natural video of the night sounds that I miss so much. thank you for this blessing.

I love this sound. It reminds me of when I came home to my front yard with my brother when I was like 9. My legs were burning from playing hide and seek in the freshly cut grass. When coming home all I could smell was the beautiful smell of dinner being made and also the smell of grass. But my favourite thing was to sit in the grass and listen to the crickets and look at the sky with small bats flying around while the moon and the stars start to slowly appear. My mind would always drift off into the best thoughts not knowing what life problems are, then suddenly being shook from hearing my mom call out my name to go eat dinner :)

Ever since moving to the city, sleeping has never been the same. I remember the hot summer days when I’d go out and play with the kids in my village all day until late evening, coming home to my mother cooking dinner, mosquitos biting at my legs, the dog barking a greeting. Sometimes in the nights it’d be so hot you could stay out on the porch and listen to the distant sound of crickets echoing, some distant dog barking, trees and hills around you. And the stars- the stars were the most beautiful- not hidden by light pollution, but visible, almost like they were touchable, you could almost feel the texture of the universe through them. And on especially clear nights, the moon would become the sun. The smells too, were unique. Grass, flowers, trees, all that fresh, pure nature scent surrounding you with a light breeze that cooled you off almost lovingly. Man, I really miss those times. They were simpler back then.

I know most people will over glorify their child hood, but, I had SO many of THESE memories growing up with fireflies and nature’s ambiance all around me. Camping outside with my family. Walks home through the neighborhood at night from a friends house. The feeling I get when just listening to this, it represents feelings and emotions I could never come close to putting into words. I’m so grateful that so many others understand how something so simple as a firefly can be so powerful. Blessed to be along side all of you in this adventure called Life.

As a teen in the 1980's I used to sit in a patch of grass behind my building by the railroad tracks in the summertime with my friends and just soak in the ambiance of crickets. Sometimes we'd just stay until the sun came up and we talked about life. Makes me realize how wonderful life was then & how peaceful and happy everyone was around me. Every time I hear crickets, I think of those summer nights back in 1981 & the dreams and aspirations we all had.

I like this one best because it's the most relaxing and realistic! In the warm months, I open the bedroom windows to the screens and let in the fresh night air. One can hear the crickets and other night insect sounds, an occasional bird, and just a soft rustling in the air. For me, that's calming and soothing. It's the coldest part of winter here now and everything's closed up tight. At night, I put this track on and it feels like "summertime" again! Very pleasant and relaxing!

Of course these sounds are incredibly soothing, but what I love about this is that it's not a computer drafted scene of flashing "fireflies," but are the actual beautiful, mesmerizing flashes of the real thing. I haven't seen this before in other videos. BEAUTIFUL! And the sound of the insects is one of the best I've heard that sounds like my childhood home in the summertime in Massachusetts. This makes me think of when I’d spend the night at my best friend’s house in grade school and I always slept on the carpet floor underneath her window. Not that she didn’t offer me her bed, but I chose to sleep there because could hear the nature so closely, and from down there looking up I could see the gentle blue haze of light peeking through the bottom of the curtains. Sometimes I would consciously stare at that little gap until my eyes got closer and closer to closing and I fell asleep. I haven’t been there in 6 years. And I didn’t realize how much that meant to me until just now.

I enjoy your videos so much. This one is incredibly soothing... I have been having serious trouble getting my parrot to sleep at night for some reason, but last night I let this play and he was calmer and more relaxed than I have seen for nearly two years worth of struggling nights and heartbreaking feather chewing. I covered him and let the crickets sing softly.. I could hear him peacefully grinding his beak in contentment and he wasn't flicking his wings or wanting out.. I was so astonished. Music to my ears like no other. Nothing has worked this well and it made me so happy it nearly brought me to tears. Thank you from the bottom of my heart! God bless.

One day the terrarium fell over and spending the night with her was like being in the country side hearing these lovely cricket sounds all over the attic. Oh yeah... The tarantula was also housed in that terrarium and; besides discovering it's old tarantula-shell behind a closet much later; the pretty large spider itself was never to be found in her appartment ever again... I work near a pond and can hear all the crickets now that it's close to summer. Leaving on vacation overseas next week. All i hear is traffic from cars going by in my apartment and noises from my neighbors. I have trees and live a block away from the lake but can't hear anything from there in my apartment building since there's roads except birds singing in the morning. I wish to move if I can afford it someday so I can hear the sounds of nature more. The sounds of the loons are beautiful here.

Reminds me of when I and my sister were 8 and 4 driving for our summer vacation from California to Ohio and down into Missouri to visit my grandparents. The sound of the crickets coming through the open windows was such a soothing sound. And the fireflies were so amazing to watch. But back then I would have appreciated a toilet instead of an outhouse. Things were so much different on the farm as to the city. Very much appreciated learning about farm animals and what we get from them. Sitting on the porch of that old shack with a long dirt road driveway. Different way of living than the city. Only negative thing of vacations was driving for 3 days. But when we hit them ole dirt roads I new we were close. What awesome memories. That’s just where this video takes me. Wish I was young again and my parents were still here. Still hold the love of it all… ❤😊

I’m near Boston. It’s getting colder, close to freezing. Snow coming this week. I was putting our summer furniture, etc., into storage for the winter. I was sad. Six months until Spring. When I was little we lived in a converted carriage house. It was one story and had only one huge living room, two bedrooms, a bath and a kitchen. With the huge living room came a huge fireplace. In the winter the pops soft sound of flickering flames would lull me to sleep. When spring hit, the large windows in the bedrooms were flung open. They were two glass panel doors. You swung them open to either side. The screen kept the bugs out. At night, this is what I would listen to. They sang to me through the cool night air. Now that I'm grown I don't ever hear that sound again. Even during the rise of the cicadas, still doesn't match the sound of this recording. It's perfect. It's peaceful. It helps me remember the magic of my youth. Thank you.

I had tried two other cricket videos. This is the best sound quality. The other two had obvious looping issues. You could hear the crickets, and then for a millisecond there no sound. And then you could hear cricket again. It just kept repeating it over and over. That didn't work for me. I love this video! Thank you!

Crazy, I have frogs and crickets and a seasonal creek by my living room window, but my bedroom faces another direction! Whoever built this place in the early 70;s sucs lol. Now I have to come to my bedroom computer to sleep and relive whats ACTUALLY going on from my living room window! wth . . house was built for views and ambiance from the living room only. I was lucky enough to live in Lake Tahoe and Florida as well. so cracking fire and wind along with ocean and thunder sounds sooth me. Trust me when i say, . . . the sound of silence is POWERFUL! When snow falls and blankets the area it is so so silent and beautiful. Snow is powerful in soundlessness.

This is also a great transcendental meditation video. This is the closest thing that I hear when in meditation. Except the vibration of my soul is a shrill, continuous, and a much higher frequency. The crickets, are the bass chorus of my own soul vibration. It is a great combination for inner peace, where I go to my inner Spirit!

Our bodies are attuned to the sounds of nature especially the pulsing of crickets and cicadas. I tried all the other rain, ocean sounds, white noise, etc. and this is thr only sound that helps me sleep soundly. I actually remember as a kid my sister and I recording the crickets on a cassette tape recorder. I have recorded my own cricket sounds now on my phone but don't know how to make it loop. I can sleep with my windows open in summer and hear the natural sounds but this recording works great in fall and winter.

Thank you for uploading this. I'd like to share a brief story. As kids, my brother and I would spend our summers down in the farmland of PA. We lived in the Boston area. As little boys, we gathered the fireflies and put them in a large pickle jar. We were so excited....we put in a iittle mulch, I insisted on sticks, my brother wanted grass added. lol. We went to bed at my grandmother's house. The next morning when we woke up, they were all dead. We neglected to put holes in the lid of the jar. The next night, with the cow manure stench in the air, we gathered the fireflies once again. I added the sticks, my bro, the grass and a few rocks. We probably should have put some manure in the jar, but hindsight is 20/20. When we were in bed, we could see the jar lighting up and it served as a wonderful night light. By morning, we noticed that the huge pickle jar was empty. Our grandmother asked, "how are the fireflies?" My brother was quiet, yet I was young and stupid....maybe 6 yrs old and blurted out, "They escaped!" Our grandmother was not happy and we hunted all over the house and never found them. Move head 40 years and I decided to gather some fireflies since here, an hour north of Boston, on the ocean, we don't have them. I purchased a house and worked on it at night before the final move in. I saw ONE firefly and got excited. My PA trip included another pickle jar, sticks, mulch, grass (no manure) and I thought I could release the hundred I gathered. They were tricky to have in the car driving home because it was too hot in the trunk and too cold with the A/C in the car. The jar was put on the backseat wrapped in a blanket. Moral of this story: The released bugs stayed the night, the next evening there were just a few flying around and by the third night, no more fireflies. Maybe pickle jars are better terrariums than firefly commuter systems. 😎

See, this is what the created soundscapes don't get right. There's a natural rhythm to real crickets, they're not strident unless you're really too close. (And yes, a single cricket trapped in my bedroom nearly drove me mad one night. Up close and personal, those guys are LOUD.) Silent Watcher, you've done it again.

Every single night, I turn on a video on my tv for while I sleep, because if I wake up from a bad dream or something, I can see something pretty when I open my eyes. The only problem is that the videos I turn on quickly change between scenes and the sudden change in brightness makes it hard to sleep. But not this one!!
