Firefly 338 - What a Find!! Perfection under $200!

There is no sponsorship in the making of this video.
It seems this brand has made leaps and bounds in quality. This one has no blemishes. It has a beautiful top and color. It plays easily and other than a bit of intonation, required no set up.
I intend on keeping this guitar stock and I will use it when playing out.

Yep! Some of the nicest inexpensive guitars I’ve owned have been firefly’s.. I’ve had 3 now , the red 338 like yours , and 2 of the classic goldtops , I kept the one with the p90s, it has the nicest fat 50s neck on it and all the binding, fretwork, paint etc … flawless and insanely nice playing ! Besides my Jet guitars , firefly’s are best bang for $

I got the Transparent Green model 338 last May! A super finish these 338's have. The machine tuners aren't the best, and mine seemed shifty, so today put a set of locking Gold Grover's. Green & Gold! It really pops now, its great. I didn't buy them for the FireFly... Was for my Martin D- but the Grover's are heavier than stock Martin's, so i kept it stock but on the FireFly they Rock!

Love my FF338 which I call Purple MicroDot. Got mine 2 years ago. Had to do a full fret level, recrown and polish, had 11 high spots. My headstock has front binding. I added Guyker locking tuners and rollerbridge, as well as a Dusenberg Les Trem 2 tremolo system. Finally, I took off the pickup covers which stopped the microphonic squeal when playing with high gain. They looked wax potted but they didn't do a great job. Definitely liked the slightly brighter tone without the covers on. Finally, the neck got real sticky this summer playing outdoor gigs in high humidity so I took 1000 grit wet/dry and took some of the poly off the neck. Plays much faster now. Thinking about upgrading the pups to SDs or Burstbuckers. I have two other Fireflys the FFTH semi hollow Tele with traditional single coils and FFPTH semi hollow Tele with P90s. The tone of the single coil model is meh, but the one with P90s I got last December, oh my, great tuners, bridge and pups. I did nothing but a set up and sanded the poly on the neck. The tone is great. Making zero changes to that one. As soon as I upgrade the pups, Purple MicroDot will be my main guitar. I use the P90 Tele for my main guitar for a set of songs where we tune down to Eb. If you get a chance to grab the FFPTH, definitely go for it. My Gibson 2001 3 pup R7 and Gothic Series SG and my Purple 2002 Ibanez S370 are getting jealous. LOL Good luck with it!

Hi Greg! Thanks for your comment. Agreed with the back of the neck can be sometimes a bit 'sticky' feeling. A light 'sanding' (as you mentioned) works real well. Too, such light sanding can often be undone with polish, if ones wants. (I use Zymol). These guitars - with a little TLC - are fantastic!! :-) I was fortunate with this one...it needed virtually no tinkering.

I have the purple one too! I am in love with it. I swapped the bridge for a roller bridge and I swapped out pickups for humbucker sized P90.

I just bought one in Oct 21 and I couldn’t believe what I got for $189. The only negative is the frets need polished, but I’ll just wear them in. After watching many older reviews it seems like Flyer Fly is upping their game. I’ll buy more!

I wish the video went a little slower when you turned the switch, because I just got my Firefly and I want to turn my switch too. That purple looks incredible. Great video

@@guitarhowtos2148 no problem! I figured it out, and its so much better with the knobs and switch rotated and the awful poker chip removed. This guitar really punches way out of its weight class.
