I have a set of music nomad files work good, but not for a professional who would be doing a lot of nuts

I use drill bits as a saw. We all have them and in most sizes to fit the string gauge perfectly.

I use an old Sam club card. Slide it tight against the nut. Gets close, then uses a feeler gage if needed. Yours is a good method also

Just thought you might want to know ... Your name should be "How Tos." Apostrophe s ('s) would be for possessives and contractions. Here, "Tos" is plural. Don't let all those ads and references to the 60's (sic) and 70's (sic) fool you. They're dead wrong. They should be written: the 60s and the 70s. Relative to your topic, here, I have a friend who once mounted a speaker to a piece of plywood (I believe it was 1/2") and used no speaker cabinet at all. It sounded surprisingly good. Less bass than a cabinet would have provided.

Yeah, these would be great if a large number of them didn't break and/or burst into flame in the first few months of use! Not a feature I want in any amp!

I use Music Nomad's setup guide with feeler guages checking string height at the first fret. The danger is going too low or too wide - new nut incoming.

Yep! Some of the nicest inexpensive guitars I’ve owned have been firefly’s.. I’ve had 3 now , the red 338 like yours , and 2 of the classic goldtops , I kept the one with the p90s, it has the nicest fat 50s neck on it and all the binding, fretwork, paint etc … flawless and insanely nice playing ! Besides my Jet guitars , firefly’s are best bang for $

I've done locking tuners on my Epi LP. When working on Bridge or pickup height with a PMS (pickup mounting system) you lose the set of strings. Can't get enough slack to remove the tailpiece. As for the roller bridge, I would not do will a hard tail guitar.

Hey bro !, do you know what size the bridge is on this guitar? 52.5 or 54 millimeters from the center of the sixth string saddle to the center of the first string saddle. Sorry for my English 🤘
@davidharris22102 ай бұрын
Obviously wrong on so many levels!! The string slots depths should only be half the diameter of the string!! You’re showing people how to ruin the intonation of the instrument!!!

😂. This is definitely not how to do it. You want the wraps to go from the top to the bottom to ensure a proper break angle. Wilkinson has instructions.

If you put a "Quick Connect" in your guitar Jack location, and the other connector on your "loaded" Pickguard, you can swap all the electronics and Pickups in under 10 minutes, without any soldering. This makes one guitar as versatile as the number of loaded Pickguards you have. There's a short video on YT called "Tutorial: Quick-Swap Pickguards for Strats" that shows how simple it can be. I can swap a loaded pickguard on my Strat in about 8 minutes from loosening the strings, to tuning up with the Loaded Pickguard ready to go.

@@guitarhowtos2148 Absolutely. I'm setting up a custom strat I have built for myself tonight and did a search for filing nut slots and your video came up and loved it. I just have to setup the bridge and get the neck relief correct and the nut slots and I'm ready to rock. It's a Mexican body with two EMG humbuckers 85b and 60 n, with a new Warmoth 10 to 16 inch radius quartersawn maple neck with maple fretboard and jumbo stainless frets. 6 screw vintage gotoh steel trem with steel block and staggered tuners that I think are gotoh. I don't use the trem though as I have a Japanese Ibanez with a low pro edge for them work and a Japanese Charvel with a Schaller Floyd as well. So thanks again man. 🤘♥️🤘

Hi Jean! A video with a sound test in being prepared.
Gibson classics, standards, and Gibson Custom Shop all come with the tail piece all the way down. That might tell you something...unless your position is that the Gibson Custom Shop doesn't know what they're doing with Les Pauls.
@guitarhowtos21482 ай бұрын
Hi Ian! That is NOT my position any more than saying that Marshall, Mesa, Egnator, Fender amps don't know what they're doing because their amps are delivered with controls at zero!

This is wrong in so many ways... I suggest checking other videos before attempting this. There's different ways even if you don't want to invest in some slotting files. But at least buy a cheap set of feeler guages and set the strings to around .020 .

If you half a pencil long ways you can put it on the fret and draw the fret height on the nut
@guitarhowtos214822 күн бұрын
As well, one layer of painter's tape across the first few frets will add slightly more height, which is effectively the same height as shown in the vid.
