Excellent cover. An underrated absolute film adaption of a novel, especially for back in the day. Damn shame the movie's score is unreleased. I really liked the dichotomy of the film's score with synthesizer music for the on the ground out of his element scary spygames, compared to the heroic orchestral music when Gant gets into the Soviet jet and takes off. The only other movie that pulls off the same duality is Tron with the real world score being orchestral and the digital stuff in the movie being synth.

Thank you. Yes it is cool how he mixes the orchestral score with synthesizer. Perhaps his son influenced him or it just fitted in. I can think of another score that incorporated synths quite well and that is Jerry Goldsmiths Star Trek. I like the movie quite a lot and Clint Eastwood did some nice spy drama back then, Like The Eiger Sanction wich is beautifully scored by John Williams.

What part are you referring to? The strings part? I only exchanged the brass to strings from the original. Not that I mind being compared with Giacchino in any way... :)
