I got to play one of these the other day. Folks, you would not believe how AWESOME it is in real life. The balance is incredible and the sound is completely original. I did not want to put it down. HEY IBANEZ! Make one from mahogany and drop the price. Please do not discontinue this great guitar.

Whenever I travel to a new city, I always look up the local guitar shop and/or pawn shop. You never know what you'll discover. I found one of these in Nashville. I plugged into a Budda 40W tube combo. Very comfortable, very bright tone and very quiet. Sitting down, the horn kind of dug into my chest, like a Parker. I am a humbucker guy, and I really liked the p/u's. The neck was easy to get around on. Bottom line, I liked it, but for $7000, you had better be a huge Paul Giilbert fan.

Yes, there's a reason. The company gets HUGE advertising benefit from it and Gilbert gets a new toy. But the newbies will be misled by his statements. A small scale guitar can be had apart from buying a custom guitar. Putting 10s on instead of 9s will always increase volume and sustain while decreasing slinkiness. etc. If I'm a bitter old man you are a naive young whipper snapper. :) But that's cool.

they sound really good in drop tunings too, I have a V-1 hellraiser and its badass. The EMGs are powerful pickups too, I put it in drop C and that is pretty much all I use it for (maybe d standard). I think that starting out without a whammy then being able to have one after you know how to play well is the better route to go. See im the opposite of you, I actually looking for a whammy guitar right now because I think it can add more to my soloing.
@asiat30

This is AMAZING because with LOT of distorsion, the definition of the sound is not too much (of all pickups). It's really clear. PS : I have a little and bad AMP. But I've been suprised by the middle pickup (DiMarzio® Area '67™). If you turn little the Tone of the Fireman, you have the little tone of Yngwie Malmsteen. The power of Hambuckers and the definition of single coil.

Great guitar, the tone is smooth and pristine. Although it's really expensive. Only the biggest Paul Gilbert fans would make such an investment. I find Gilberts speed very catchy and clear, there's a wonderful resonance to his guitars. PG = ROCK GOD!

@Neltheros With thicker guitar strings,the note will resonate for a longer time compared to thinner string. Therefore, you should have greater sustain with thicker strings. What Paul was saying about the neck scale, is that the neck is a shorter scale which allows you to use thicker strings without increasing the tension greatly, compared to using heavier gauge strings on a standard guitar neck which would increase the tension much more.

Yeah, Brian may used 9-42. But he would have gone through those thin strings like crazy since he used a 10 pence coin for a pick. But his guitar manages to get an amazing amount of sustain out of those strings.
@AskeGuitar
@AskeGuitar 13 жыл бұрын
@Neltheros Thanks no problem. As long as the tension is sufficient enough to keep the strings from buzzing on the frets, the tension won't make that much of a difference. You might be able to get a slight amount more of sustain, but regular gauge should suffice.

the best of all worlds,playability of and avante guard looks of ibanez,sustain and fatness of gibsons,and the snap and brightness of fenders.I do wish it had 24 frets though,and maybe a humbucker in the bridge,but idk everything else sounds great,it may all work together well,if paul likes it,i like it.

Dude. You just don't like me pointing out TRUTH. EVERY part of a guitar contributes to it's overall sound. The point I tried to make is that he makes it seem like this guitar is just so great and it is subjective. If he loves it, great. But his sound is rather fuzzy. I'm sure it feels better during alternate picking due to the heavier strings but then he could have gotten that on a reg scale guitar.

I've got a Fireman 100-TR guitar. If you play with a big Marshall AMP, you can be surprised. The sound is very loud. It's the tone of a Hambucker. I approuved Paul gilbert thing about the pickups. - - - - I've too play on a little Marshall AMP. and the sound (with distorsion) is the same as hambucker (just little lighter).
