I would like to think that the engines on the north western railway would dress up like Thomas would be a skeleton. James would be a bumblebee Percy would be that like one sonic character and the list goes on and the same can be said for Christmas

First video of yours that I came across and one thing we have in common is that Billy was one of the Manning Wardle tank engines that was owned by the Wellsworth and Suddery. Two others were named Charlie and Flora. These three would've been Manning Wardle Class "Old I." This was before the slides from one of Awdry's lectures revealed that they were in fact Class Q.

Even more ramblings. 1. Billy and Charlie are former W&S engines that are Manning Wardle tanks. They were kept in storage due to their age and size and because nobody would take them when the NWR was finished. They eventually were let out and became Norramby engines. After their time there was done, they were bought by the Vicarstown Rail Museum. 2. Donald, Douglas, and Duncan have quite the potty mouths, particularly Duncan, who has gotten in trouble, especially when young fans are around. 3. Thomas went on a world tour from 2004 to 2006. During his travels, he met Nia, whom he was able to save from scrap by getting the Fat Controller to buy her and make her a utility engine. 4. The SKR engines were initially all red, but this was changed in 1997 when tourists kept getting engines confused due to the TV series. The Thin Controller asked the engines for volunteers to get their livery changed. Sir Handel, Peter Sam, and Ivo Hugh stepped up, the latter of which did it for a new experience. Duncan followed in 2008 and Rusty in 2015. 5. The Blue Mountain Quarry was opened in 1973 with its first two engines being an 08 shunter named Paxton and a narrow gauge engine from Ireland named Luke. It was opened in the hills of Peel Godred, which required engines to get their by being pulled by the electrics of the branch. 6. The Marklin engine was a loaned German shunter that came to Vicarstown in 1924. It didn't have a face, which wasn't a foreign concept to the engines and people of Sodor but was a bit unsettling as the island did have mostly non-faceless engines. It did work very well, and the Fat Director did intend to buy the engine, but the railway it came from ultimately called it back. 7. The engines are aware of fan projects like The Magic Railroad Parody and Project Tiger Moth and are very much in support of them, often giving them shout outs in interviews and to other fans. 8. When Trainz was first released, the engines didn't know what to make of it. Some thought it a neat idea while others found it funny that someone would want to create them on a computer when they could watch the TV series, buy a toy or just visit the Island. Over time, and with the progress of Trainz over the years, more engines have warmed up to it. Many are quite impressed with that takes on their looks in the game and what young fans can do with it. 9. Mad Bomber was the first fan film the engines ever saw. While some were weirded out by the liberties taken, all were impressed with what one man could do with toys and a camera. 10. TGD takes place from 1954 - 55, TOTB in 66' , SLOTLT and JBS in 67', TGR in 68', BMM in 75', CAE in 77', HOTR in 79', and KOTR in 80'. All are different from their TV portrayals, however, being in a more realistic RWS setting. 11. Thomas and the Missing Christmas Tree also takes place in 1967. I have a whole plan for a story with Thomas in that year, which I will get into some other time. 12. Murdoch has a Scottish accent. He is the definition of a gentle giant. A kind spirited engine that looks up to Henry and often doesn't want trouble. But when you hurt his friends, he will fight back. When he is angry and telling others, he does have a tendency to apologize for raising his voice.

Number 1 has been retconned. Billy works on Thomas' branch line, and Charlie is a vicarstown shunter.

Here what I think of porter in my au: Porter was built in 1966. And the last of large dock tanks. He worked around San Diego and then Santa Fe. He bought in auction in 1981. Stanley the narrow gauge engine au cannon: Stanley was built by Baldwin in 1916. And was early prototype. With various American features such as bell and chime whistle. Generator and air pump. He preserved in 1973

My headcanon for billy and Charlie the China clay works was actually opened in 1901 and was closed down in 1913 the engines were billy Charlie Louis Elliot and Violet worked the line well and brought clay to and fro from the clay pits to suddery harbor and were fast friends with coils lily etc this was until you now the Merger of the 5 railways on sodor where the owner of the clay pits wanting money sold his engines for scarp and closed down the pits and if your wondering why billy and Charlie act the the way they do well war messed with their heads.next the misty island and the sodor and mainland so in 1890 the sodor and mainland wanted some wood for their towns of kirk raonon and their harbor to get money from goods so they made a deal with a new island called the logging and dumping depot or an island chose your pick anyway the depot got 5 engines to run the line bash dash fredanred Aiden and stanley they got wood from their and gave it to their towns imported it and even used it for their engines however wanting more everything the was tried to buy the island this caused a fund between the sam and was until the sam won the bid that was until their closer in 1913 where the was at last brought it the engines of the was and ldd treated euch other like a pluge anyway the ldd had to pay 20,000 dollars for the was giving them money however they soared past their deadline and thus they was drained ldd money making it go out of business on February 15th 1914

I was watching episode 4 and i wanted to know if you had any further explanation for why top hat is a steam engine, was this like if the tugs were engines, or am i missing something? either way its an interesting concept considering top hat was the railway tug!
