what’s the difference between the rescues and pumpers in their fleet if any? they look exactly identical to the pumpers.

Rescues are like "Rescue Engines" and Pumpers are like normal "Engines". So they carry some different equipment.

The main difference between Pumpers and Rescues is that Rescues have Auto-extrication equipment and also respond as RIT (Rapid Intervention Team) to fire calls. Pumper Crews aren't tasked as RIT during dispatch but the crew may assume RIT if needed. Pumpers are mainly viewed as water sources but also take priority on medical dispatch.

When making purchases for such a large dept, $2000 can make a big difference for the budget. DCs arent deemed as personnel carriers so Tahoes do the job just fine.
