I’m 33, work a 40-50 hr per week full time job, but studying and practicing art 3-4 hrs a day as I want to be a pro artist. Not spending the next 2/3 of my life working a job that means nothing to me. I really needed to hear that story the Polish dude told of the doctor that changed to an art career in his late 30’s/early 40’s. No longer will I tell myself that I’m too old.

You speak to me from the soul ❤ I'm in my late 30s and started a few years ago. I don't want to do a job I don't love until the end of my life. That's why I turned my hobby into my vocation. The mind says a lot but the heart speaks louder.

This group conversation was far more relaxed than what I've expected. Usually when I listen to a group of artists talk about art I just get intimidated but this was more of a slight push than anything else.

21:25 This is really what I needed. When you realize art can and does become work, you can avoid burnout by knowing when to step away from it. Thanks!

Thats a really great chat video! Everytime i hear Maciejs story, I'm full of hope and will to work harder. Even if I have a full time job (not in art). Everything seems so simple: work hard, put effort, don't be scared to fail, etc. But its damn true! It IS so simple. Maciej is right- consistency is the key. Thank to all of you who participated and produced this video! Cheers! :)

Situation in India is much worse than what Maciej described Poland to be. It takes a lot of courage and blocking out society to pursue art as a career in a country like India. Here I am today a 22 year old engineering graduate aspiring to become a concept artist. Already gone through some pain but Need to get geared up for the upcoming hurdles.

I just cant stop crying actually watching this I am at a stage of life that I feel lost I have this passion but it feels like that Its useless because everyone has this view of life finish school go to uni get a job but thats not what I want I find it hard to devote full time due to the fact that I am scared of not doing well at school and the views of people in general just feel lost but this vid showed me that I should just go for it because at the end of the day at least I am happy! Starting to even loose touch with friends because they are so ou finish school gp to uni and if you dont do this you stupid but they them selves are now going down a path of misery doing something purely because it earns them "money"

Thank you very much for this conversation video, it feels so good to simply hear you thoughts guys and compare them to my owns and realize how close I'm to understanding all this "art" thing integrated in life.. because that's it, in conclusion it's always you against the interests of your circles (family) to society... constant battle to keep pushing forward in that frontier infinity battlefront. Glad to know that in some ways WE artists.. got all this things in common...

Thank you for inspiration. Two years ago I started learning digital painting but I gave up really quick, I felt intimidated and a little voice in my head said "fuck it, you're never gonna make it" and it's a shame I listened to it because now I could be in totally different place. It's not about feeling confident with own skills and being satisfied after every try, it's about doing it despite the fact I fail and suck now. Failure should be just a step to success and I hope this time I will remember it. I must save up for Learn Squared course(s). Anyone need a logo or web design?;)

Maciej Kuciara - I love his art but OH MY GOD what a bunch of rubbish he's talking about. Not many things coming out of Poland in terms of art? Yeah cause Bagiński was not at all inspired by another Polish artist Beksiński. And video games? Witcher/Dying Light/Call of Juarez/This War of Mine/Get Even/Bulletstorm/Painkiller/Shadow Warrior etc. All came from Poland. Movies? Sławomir Idziak - Private Ryan, Lincoln and other Spielberg movies, Dariusz Wolski - Pirates of the Carribean trilogy among other movies? and so on... And btw. Platige Image and Juice studios - Devloping CGI movies and commercials worldwide? Oh and let's not forget about late Adam Adamowicz - LEAD concept artist in Bethesda. Sorry Maciej but I have a sense that You would like to think about yourself as the only concept artist that came out of Poland. So next time... Less bullshit please.

When we say academic art is terrible, we are reforcing the stupid idea of superior art... all art are good. The i would kill to have access to their knowledge of technique. You can aply technique everywhere. And it did not get very clear, if the schools were bad just because they are classic ou something else.
