There is a lot of truth to that statement - if you are busy prepping your own monologue, it will fall flat unless it's properly tethered to the conversation of others. Sam seems off-the-wall but he is actually one of the players that always seemed to be acutely aware of what is going on, and can therefore react better to it.

He is very uncomfortable. All Sam's narcissism and egoism is nothing but a shield to not reveal the real Sam more than he wants to be revealed, and it hides a hell of a lot of insecurity. Strange as it may sound, this is much like Till Lindemann, who created his stage persona and much of the fire and antics because he hates attention.

@@misterthegeoff9767 the "pros" either empty the bottle into a decanter (looks like a fancy water jug) to *really* make it breathe or they use an aerator, if they don't have one. Basically, it's a sort of spout that you put on top of the bottle, where the wine runs through some tubes with air holes.

That improv tip about listening first and then going "Yes, and..." is really what many homecampaingns with non-actors could learn from. After all a table-top RPG is always about acting out a role in front of others, whether you do acting for a living or not. And if people at a table learn to take in what the others are doing, you are already halfway there. You don't have to be the most creative and most inventive story-tellers, just trying to run with what the others are offering will yield a satisfying experience.
