YES! As a genetics and warrior cats nerd, I have two sets of designs I draw for my favorite characters. One design is more realistic to cat genetics (while still keeping as close to book design), and the other is just what I like to see that character as for fun! My “genetics” design often is closer to the book description than my “fun” one! All in all, these are fictional cats, I’m gonna color them whatever color I want!

I like this kind of genetic theorizing where you try to figure out how to make cats as close to their canon/fanon appearances as possible, kinda like a puzzle! Genetics are a lot more flexible and complicated than most people think they are.

I really love how you actually tried to make the cats fit their canon discriptions!! So many people who do this challenge go for the "ooo look how different they are!" factor without actually figuring out how to get the characters to fit their discriptions. Playing with cat genetics for ocs or canon warrior cats is meant to be fun!! Not to tell people that "this is impossible/you cant do this your doing it wrong!" (I remember one person even saying that solid cats don't exist in the wild, what???). Sure, a fawn cat in a wild population is uncommon, but its fun, and these cats breed with outsiders all the time, so its not that unlikely for it too happen. Another cool idea for Firestar could be amber/russet/carnelian! He could start as the brown cat he’d be if Jake was orange, maybe looking a bit like fire, enough for Bluestar to take him in… but by the time he actually becomes Firestar, he looks completely like a flame-colored cat. Because we know essentially nothing about Jake and Nutmeg, they could absolutely have the right recessives for it, too!

I'll fully admit to missing small changes here & there between my script & what I ended up saying, but I change them whenever I catch them. I don't get why ppl think Deaf/hoh/apd folks don't deserve or won't miss what's being said; that's the WHOLE POINT of subtitles! SF got all the same fawn-causing heterozygous-ness as LP, and BS can be carrying mc easily, so Lionblaze is a cakewalk _if_ BS can get b1 from somewhere - which he can! I have plans for Tigerstar ( ;) ) but Goldenflower could have it. He can also carry dilution easily so that's JF taken care of, and nonagouti, so that's HL too. And he's longhair, so that's actually easier than CF/LP for the longhair kiddos LOL. so I think all it'd take to make them work for BS/SF too is if Goldenflower gives her boi a b1 :D I swear the next family tree video is going to be 3 hours, and 2.5 of it are going to be Hawkfrost & Mothwing.

Iam glad to get a possible theory on how Rustystar could maintain his appearance genetically, as pretty much every other genetically accurate warriors video has him as a brown tabby. I mean the entire Prophecy is about him being orange. Of course the Erin's kinda throw a monkey wrench into things in Pinestar's Choice, revealing that Jake's parents are crystal, a ginger She-cat with white spotting and mocha, a brown tom. I like you're theory better though.

Suggestion for how to fix the Ivypool/Fernsong thing = Breezepelt is the father of Ivypool's kids They had a brief thing after OotS and then mutually ended it on amicable terms and then Breezepelt became mates with Heathertail. Bristlefrost, Thriftear, and Flipclaw all work genetically for this to work and the timeline matches up for this to be likely and its an easy solution to this and doesn't impact anything later.

This was so much fun! You are by far the most knowledgeable person I’ve seen do this, which means you have more tools and tricks to make the characters look as much like their canon selves as possible. The back and forth up and down the family tree was also lots of fun, like a little puzzle, and you do a great job explaining and rehashing everything. I’m looking forward to the next one - whenever it comes out in the future. Tigerstar’s should logically be next, but I do hope you get around to Bluestar’s at some point.

How many times have you rewatched this video? ... yes... I just love how you make the family tree, and I started making a cat oc family tree in a similar fashion. Just using generators where I don't have design ideas, and then looking through the family to see where the genetics could come from. I ended up with the first mink in the family thanks to generators and her parents carrying each point trait she needed. Also, I found out Somali and Abyssinian seem to be fairly similar, aside from Somali being longhair and Abyssinian being shorthair So the start of my cat oc family tree is someone's purebred Abyssinian who got loose and some tom got her pregnant. I'm having alot of fun mapping these genetics, as you can probably tell by my comment and the repeated replaying of this video

I love how this one actually stays as close to the canon as possible!!! Plus somali Firestar which is always a win. I know nothing of cat genetics and most of these types of vids will be like "well all of these cats are impossible and can't look like this" i'm like, oh well, the Erin's just make up appearances that they think just look cool anyway, I don't expect it to be genetically accurate. So seeing that it is possible to stick pretty close to canon is amazing. Also, I took it upon myself to detangle the bloodlines for an AVOS rewrite and I solved the Ivypool/Fernsong dilemma by making Ivypool kiss Blossomfall and if I wanted Ivy's kits to be real I'd have them ask Fernyboy to get with Blossomfall as just a sire. Because. You know. Ivypool and Fernsong are related and therefore probably shouldn't kiss. Especailly since Ivypool just had a whole story arc about how her sister is related to Lionblaze. Hmm.

Forgive me if I'm wrong - Turner's syndrome is X monosomy, right? I'm no expert, but I did some cursory searching... All quotes below are from "Genetic disorders of sex development in cats: An update" (2020) by Szczerbal I. & Switonski M., to the journal "Animal Reproduction Science." "The X monosomy condition is rarely diagnosed in cats. A new case was recently reported by Szczerbal et al., 2015a in a female cat with masculinized external genitalia composed of a rudimentary penis and a scrotum-like structure without gonads. This was a surprising observation because the X monosomy is usually associated with infantile female genitalia. There, however, has been a report of enlarged clitorides in four of 181 human patients with Turner syndrome (Ranganath and Rajangam, 2012)." "The feline PAR is much longer (6.7 Mb) than the human PAR1 (2.7 Mb, in the short arm of the X) and PAR2 (0.32 Mb in the long arm of X), and equine PAR (1.8 Mb). I do know I had read that one of the few cases they had caught with TS was a Maine coon kitten because she was cream, they knew the parents genetics and the only way for her to be cream was if she was missing part of her chromosome.

From what research I've done, one of the few cases of TS in cats that's been recorded is a cream Maine coon kitten (they knew the kitten had TS because the vets knew the parents genetics and the kitten could not have cream without missing a gene)
