I created a template thats all colour coded. It took me a whole day to do it but saves me so much time in the long run.
@FireWalkMusic4 жыл бұрын
That's clever! Templates are great that way. As you say, it takes some time to set up, but before long it will have saved you tons of time! :) Workflow is key. The faster you work, the easier it is to finish a track.

How do you do a colour template....that would be useful thank trying to think of a colour 😄
In the past I don't use it, but now I use it to see better what's going on or where I can added something. I use the same way with making the same colour for an instrument and the automation clips for this instrument... So it's better/makes more fun. Thank you for your tips and good luck + enjoy the days and everyone too 👋🙂

Yeah, coloring will also make it easier to "read" the project visually just by looking at it. i forgot to include it in the video. but the human brain actually responds more to colors than names, so that's another good reason to do it. :)

I will probably get flamed by some for uploading such a "simple" video, but before you hit that dislike button, keep in mind that the video is aimed towards the absolute beginner, and I want to have both beginner and advanced tutorials available on this channel. More advanced mixing tutorials and such are coming soon. :)

Good points. Took a while before I learned to properly name my automation clips. When opening old projects I was never able to tell what the clips were for.

Indeed. Always name and color everything so that you'll be able to navigate the project later on. At least in the newest versions, they get automatically grouped. In earlier versions, it was even more confusing, as they could end up anywhere. :)

If you right click the vst and click 'Assign to new instrumental track', you can rename and color 3 things(channel rack, playlist, and mixer) altogether. This method has pros and cons btw.

I think I never colored anything in 3 years of using fl studio. But my projects are not that big so I can usually see what things are or quickly solo something if I forgot.
@FireWalkMusic4 жыл бұрын
To be honest, I could be better at it myself. I often end up throwing things in there, and then I have to go back and do it later so that it will be manageable if I have to go back and do a remix or something later on. If the project is not too big then most of the time it won't be a huge problem. Still, It's important to encourage good habits early on. For beginners, I think this can help them progress more easily. :)

Is there a way to copy the name / color from one place to another? For example, I have all my audio clips named and color coded and I want to give each a track in the playlist window, and match them up to each other. Is there a shortcut for this so I don't have to go through and try to find the same colors I used before?

I think if u do a video about such an easy thing, then u should also show the shortcuts for this and how you quickly organise when u also started a projekt And you dont always want to click 4 times on the different things to get colour As far as I know, you can do ctrl + L or smth in the rack and it automatically adds it on a free mixer channel with name and colour

Good day..i am a beginner..and i have a question.. I use FL studio 20.. I would love for you to tell me how to fix this issue ...when i open piano roll ...the paino roll window is always corner of my screen .what i pull it out a maximize it...it is so zoom out. It a problem I have to face everytime... i also un install and re install ..the problem eventually returns..any help
@FireWalkMusic4 жыл бұрын
Hi, first of all, I recommend that you detatch the window. Click on the upper left corner of the piano roll and select "detached" at the bottom of the menu. You can now move the window around as you want, and it will also stay on top of anything else if you want it to. Next, to zoom in or out, move your mouse to the upper right corner of the piano roll. Between the X on top and the arrow pointing up on the scroll bar, keep the mouse cursor right there and use the scroll wheel to make it bigger or smaller. You can also use page up / page down on your keyboard to zoom in / out. Click on the upper left corner, and go to "zoom" to find more zoom options.
