A thing of beauty, one of the 8 wonders of the new world. It sure makes things easier, not stacking. I wish I had an open field. White oak splits so nice. That wood is really seasoned.

You got a pretty good eye for spotting the difference between white and red Oak when most of it is barkless! I can definitely tell when it’s got bark on it, but once the red Oak dries the color lightens up it’s a little difficult until you split it open. The smell is a dead giveaway! See ya tomorrow 👍🏻👍🏻GNI
@InTheWoodyard20 күн бұрын
Yup, it is harder for sure! When it is split it is easy with the smell and color.

Hello Chris. You have been using the single wedge rather than the four-way wedge quite a bit in your videos as of late. Is that because of the wood you are splitting, or is it to limit the amount of scrap generated? Keep up the great work!
@InTheWoodyard20 күн бұрын
The single does a better job for clean splits and it is better for nasty knotty stuff too.

If your customers could tell the difference between white and red oak they would be ranked as genius'. Even the best of us can't always determine the species of oaks. Besides, the BTU's are close anyhow. I am dismissed. 😵💫😵💫
@InTheWoodyard21 күн бұрын
Yup, I agree but the ones that want it really want it for their smoking of meat for their business and I want to get the right product to them so I separate it for them.
@jessejones983020 күн бұрын
I gotta lot the same deal here in TN,most people here can tell to a degree,so I separate so I get business of those few people that want their wood even that specific ,it's more work but worth it,to me anyway
@user-fu4bm5ft3j20 күн бұрын
If you've ever smelled fresh cut "green" red oak you'll know why you don't want to use it for smoking. Once the wood is split it's pretty easy to tell red from white.
@annaaron351020 күн бұрын
The nose knows...I forgot. Forgive please. Yes, the snorting works when wood is fresh or split. I often will step outside to stand and snort the stacks ( she threatens to call our friend the county Sheriff down the road ). For you jokesters, offer a White Spruce to a "friend" (sic) for their indoor Christmas tree. Details will come.
