Those new pallets will be Val approved!!💜 Why you might have to adopt Jack. You’ll miss him when he gets done. 😁

It’s good that selling firewood is a side gig for you, us full time firewood sellers need to have ready to burn firewood available year round. But I know if your family depended on you selling firewood to support them you would make it happen. Fricken pallets, they just don’t last.

Great video Brad, if you’ve got access to a magnet on wheels might be worth running up and down the newly paletted rows to get any nails the old pallets let loose while moving before your moms lawn mower tires find em. Have a great week!

Doesn’t look terrible compared to the video of the day you had the event😂. That’s where track skid steer comes in nice running the ground in. 👍

Brad cut the bladders and put the plastic under the new pallets . It sure helps keep them from going into the soil and pallet will last longer .

I started using those metal bars last year the same way and they work well. I build pallet cribs to hold my wood and fill them from a 24ft conveyor and they hold the weight.

Perhaps some geotextile cloth and gravel in the main work area would improve the working conditions and save you some time that could be put towards firewood production.

Love the idea of using those supports. I've kept some also, figuring they could be used somewhere in the future. My pallet "yard" is also deteriorating, and i thought it was just me since i hadn't seen anyone else have the same experience. Thanks for showing this and your cleanup. And it was good to see Val again. At least in a video!

I have had decent luck putting another row of pallets on top of the rotten ones. It gets a little more air under them and keeps the pallet being stacked on off the dirt also. The yard is already looking better!👍

Good morning Brad and Valerie - I know the feeling with falling through pallets as you did in this video. Have you thought about using plastic pallets? I know they are more expensive than wooden pallets but they do last longer. Good luck refilling the woodyard and stay safe.

Cut the tops & bottoms off ya tote bladders , cut it where ya can flatten it out with some heat on the corners on a flat surface (concrete) , ya got a cover sheet for 1&1/2--2 cords approx ??? Put a few heavy cookies on top to hold it down !!! 👍

Good use of the IBC top bars! The woodyard mud repairs are coming along great Brad. As an aside, I've stopped using wood chips as a surface. I've found that it makes my mud issues worse over time. I've started to put stone down in the well traveled areas and it's a huge improvement.... FWIW

@FirewoodattheFurnace9 ай бұрын
I've been throwing that around, but when i dump logs on the ground, I'll end up having stones in the bark that my saw will surely find.
@oldguyfirewood9 ай бұрын
@@FirewoodattheFurnace I understand your concern but I haven’t found that to be a problem. I use crusher run and track it in good then leave a bit of sawdust on top of that.
@waynetharp9 ай бұрын
@FirewoodattheFurnace I left 2 spots dirt on purpose for logs but the stone comes right up to the areas. I went the opposite end and went with 2" stone. It doesn't brake ankles, holds up to weight good and definitely doesn't hide in bark. Best money I ever invested in the woodyard. We had snow melting today and soupy yet I was able to split wood all day without being sunk in the mud!

If you get a spray can of clear coat and put a couple of coats on the screws they will last a lot longer.

I do the pallet racks as well but mount my vertical skids with the 2x4 side down and actually put a few screws through it into the ground skid. Has held up pretty good so far! Just be glad you have flat ground, cause I don’t and have had a few blow outs lol.

Hey Brad, a question about the Fellowship. Is there a reason you have it so early in the year, and not later when the weather could/would be a bit better?
@FirewoodattheFurnace9 ай бұрын
I schedule it during the time when Andrew Easton is traveling through the area on his way to Florida for Vacation. I think its great that he can be hear to answer questions and meet everyone. If in the future I re-evaluate the event, I may have to change the time of year and Andrew might not be able to make it.

Don’t you have a friend with a saw mill? How about using low quality 4x4 as a base not pallets. They would be safer and last longer than a few years. Just a thing that works well for me.
