I totally agree! Conference champions should be decided by win/loss records @ end of conference play.. NFL set up. I think even bumping it on up to 16 teams and replacing the conference championship games week with a sort of play in set of games (2) for the 15th and 16th ranked teams against the 18th and 17th ranked teams. That would give the higher seeds extra time to get healthy AND help as much as possible to eliminate any teams from getting screwed out of the playoffs due to the voters opinions!!

Let's make some comparisons: Miami and Georgia shared an opponent in Florida. Miami trashed Florida's starters. Georgia struggled against Florida's backups. Guess which one is ranked higher. Penn State and Texas have played a total of 2 ranked teams and beaten a total of 0. BYU has played a total of 2 ranked teams and beaten a total of 2. Guess which one is ranked below the others. Indiana has played, and beaten, basically no one. Army has played, and beaten, basically no one. No one will dispute that the Big 10 is tougher than the Group of 5, but Indiana hasn't played any real powerhouses in the Big 10. Guess which one is rightfully ranked in the 20s, and which one isn't. If you don't believe that brand and name recognition influence the playoff rankings, you shouldn't have an opinion on college football.

Miami beat Cal by 1 on a BS officiating call after trailing for the entire game. Miami beat Virginia Tech by 4 on a BS officiating call. Miami has zero ranked wins. Georgia lost to Bama, blowout Clemson and dogged Texas. That's a top 20 win and a top 5 win. What does Miami have? Miami would get dogged by Alabama.

Bama beat them twice in one night, and Georgia only got the upper hand when Bama tried to pack it in. Very misleading box score. Second, please do not tell me you think Clemson is good. They beat up on terrible teams and got exposed vs a quasi-decent Louisville. They aren't even Top 20 (and should not be ranked). Third, Texas also has zero ranked wins. Are they a good win? Sure. Is it enough to ignore the results from a shared opponent? I don't think so. Fourth, if you think Bama beats Miami, I encourage you to watch the Vanderbilt game again. They showed no discipline. It depends. We’ve got our work cut out in Oxford this week. If we survive that we’ve got a rough test when Tenn comes to town next weekend. We could go 1-1, 2-0. I doubt 0-2 but it’s possible. I like our chances to win both games but it’s tough. One thing is definitively true. The folks who thought the regular season wouldn’t be exciting with this format were very wrong. Every week matters for so many teams. By this time most years we were down to 10~ teams at most. Now there are legitimately 25+ teams with a shot to make the playoffs.
