Coffee before a ride would not go well. It cleans me out and sitting in riding position would trigger an unwanted result😆 In all seriousness, Pipes + Intake + Grips are my three to go first. Great video once again!🤘🏻

My first mod was a slip on exhaust. Next was a safety mod: Front Pro Beam LED signals (easier to be seen). After that, was the Arlen Ness Velocity 65 heavy breather with FP3 tuner

First mods to my brand new 2020 FXST: Added a Saddelmen Renegade solo seat; butt much happier. Added cruise control due to shoulder issue - expensive - well worth it. Dropped snow shovel on bike and dented fender - damn.

Micheal, I like your approach to customisation. Bike looks good. On my Sport Glide I have a stage one with the Screaming Eagle air cleaner and pipe married to an FP3 fuel pack. I went in this direction because its covered by HD warranty alongside the bike. I prefer the look of your S&S set-up, but I know of issues in my environment with Harley warranty claims on bikes fitted with non Harley after market performance products. My bike also has the Saddlemen seat (step up version), heated grips, Klock Werks Flare screen, sissy bar and backrest, and lots of additional trim from the Defiance Harley range. I still have a long wish list of changes, but I now need some time to figure out in which direction to go!.

Thanks Peter, from what I have read and heard every country has different warranty protections based on local laws + dealership rules. Fortunately I'm still covered under warranty 😅 you're bike sounds great too, the Klockwerks flare is my favourite for replacement windshields on the stock fairing! Thanks for the comment and enjoy the never ending customisation of your bike! 😅

Peter Connell I am curious how the afternarket tune is covered by Harley’s warranty? They really cracked down on aftermarket tuners and are voiding warranties left and right.
@peterconnell3162

@@DCyclemoto.. I know you guys have a problem in the USA, and the whole Harley warranty area is really complex. Probably the best explanation I have seen is by Matt Laidlaw on his channel, and John Maxwell covered this area as well. In Europe its not that different, but the dealers seem to have more autonomy in this area. The Screaming Eagle Pro tuner is no longer available here, so there is no Harley option for the Stage One kit. The Vance & Hines FP3 tuner is most frequently used, and it is accepted under warranty in Europe. I triple checked!. It could be because its not really a "tuner", as it just offers a more efficient air/fuel map for the components making up the stage one. As a comparison if you go onto the Moonshine Harley channel and have a look at what those guys are doing, now that is really tuning Harley Engines. But they use different components.

I know this video isn't recent and maybe you've answered this before.. have you done a full stage one on the sport glide? I see you've changed the exhaust, im wondering if you've changed the air cleaner and added a tuner as well? from a fellow motovlogger and possible future sport glide owner

Another great video Michael! The only 3 mods that I’ve made to my SG are the Klockwerks windscreen, 2” Rox risers, & a Bungking crash bar. But, based on your review, I’m looking very seriously at the El Paso windshield, even more so after this video. You have a slightly different angle & I really like how streamlined it makes the bike look.
@TheMotoBarista
@TheMotoBarista 5 жыл бұрын
Hey Royce, that Bungking crash bar is a great choice - definitely my favourite crash bar around! I am really enjoying the windshield, yesterday I actually filmed my next video doing a full review of the windshield, it will go up next Monday, hopefully that will help further with your decision!

The Moto Barista Awesome! Looking forward to seeing it. I love the Bungking. I have several friends who are Dyna riders & swear by the Bungking; at least 1 guy swears it saved his leg when he had a high speed drop. One of the other things I like about the Bungking is that it’s unique, I haven’t seen another Sport Glide with one mounted. Like you, I want a bike that's not like everyone else’s.

Very good video. I've made a few changes to my Sport Glide. Kuryakyn Mini Floorboards/4" HD pullback risers/Custom Dynamic front Turn Signals/HD Backrest and pad/12" Slipstreamer windshield/Saddlemen LS Step-up seat. Coming on Oct. 8th. All Screaming Eagle for warranty. Heavy Breather/Street Cannon Muffler/Street Tuner and Auto Programmer module with wide band O2 sensors/Stage 2 Torque Cam/Dyno Tune. I anticipate a much different riding experience here very soon. Still trying to come up with better wind management. Considering trying the Klock Werks windscreen. I really do like the looks of the Memphis Shades windshield on your Sport Glide. May end up going in that direction instead. The Sport Glide is my favorite Harley to date. Not perfect but getting there. Take care.

The Moto Barista Thanks Michael for your help in my final decision making, as like you I had been researching many options but I didn't want a aggressive sounding pipe that makes your ears ring after a ride, just a nice deep rumble which I believe the S&S will deliver in spades. I will let you know how I go when my goodies arrive.👍😎☕️

Hey Michael - really like your modifications. For my 2019 Sports Glide, so far I have added an engine guard which gives it a classic "bagger" look, changed the airfilter cover from the stick 107 to just the black with the harley bar & shield, which I think looks really nice since the timing cover has same as well as the saddle bag. Another mod was the saddle--I changed to the Harley Sundowner saddle which looks good, has good padding and also the wider seat for passenger. I also added a bigger pad on sissy bar for passenger. Last mod was a really nice chrome derby cover which says "Harley Davidson Motor Co". I just ordered hand guards which I hope will help during cold rides and I want foot paddles for rider and passenger. What foot boards did you purchase? Do they make a matching set for passenger? Thnaks!
@TheMotoBarista
@TheMotoBarista 3 жыл бұрын
Hey mate that is awesome to hear! My foot boards are the Kuryakyn Hex Mini Floorboards, they fit for both rider and passenger, you just need to select the right mounting adapters for them which you can easily find on their website 🤘

I bought a Yami Warrior back around 2007. Rode it home about 250 miles and hated it. It was miserably uncomfortable. I basically did the same mods as you. I just put bicycle gel seats under the seat cover rather than buy a new seat, but I also got floorboards and a nice windscreen. Simple mods made the bike all day comfy. The exhaust on the Warrior was enormous and hideous. I changed that too, but aside from aesthetics, I don't think that made the bike better. To me, motorcycles feel much more refined with stock pipes. Putting the aftermarket cans on it made it sound/feel more like a tractor. Two motorcycle myths you're repeating. 1. Torque and power aren't different things. Torque is a component of power. At any rpm, if you increase the engine power, it will necessarily increase the torque at the crankshaft. The torque that is at your rear wheel is gear dependent. In first gear, you have more torque and less speed. In sixth gear, you have less torque and more speed. 2. Backpressure is not something you want in an exhaust. Take the exhaust off and the engine will see 14.7 psi of back pressure at the exhaust valve. The bike will also run like crap. In an ideal world, you'd want a vacuum at the exhaust valve that would pull the burned fuel out of the cylinder most efficiently. What bounces back is actually a low pressure wave in two into one pipes. That is engineered in to "scavenge" cylinder exhaust during valve overlap. Two into two pipes sound more lopey and authentic on HDs but because there is no scavenging, they tend to have a mid range dip in power delivery. They make up for it as the gasses flow faster at high rpms. The higher the velocity of the exhaust, the lower the pressure.

saddlebag thanks for information, that is really interesting. That explains it really well, a lot of exhaust designers I have been watching to learn from don’t break it down like that. Thanks for the heads up.

@@TheMotoBarista Most of them aren't engineers. They bend their pipes to look nice. If you're interested in the subject, this guy has some good info on his site: www.rbracing-rsr.com/exhausttech.htm
