Hi@@SenoraPatten, my main tips are to start early, keep a check list of the what you must touch on during filming, and don't worry about things being perfect. They want to see you reflect on your teaching. Hope that helps. Do let me know how it goes.

I only passed due to a technical issue. My university required a 37 to pass, and I received a 36 on my score. Due to COVID19, however, my university decided to use last years standards for a passing score, which was a minimum of 36. I passed because of COVID19 closed the schools, and remaking some of the parts up for the EdTPA was impossible. That's the only way I passed it, and I am grateful.

Question, for Task 1 Part D: Assessments, I understand I'm including the formative assessments since that measures how a student is doing during the course of the learning segment. Those will be connected to my lessons/lesson plans. Do I need to include the summative assessment as well? Task 3 includes the quiz, but do I need to include the final assessment? The big test we give at the end of each unit to measure how much a student has learned?

Do the standards we use depend on what state we are seeking certification in? I am student teaching in a school that is not in the same state I am seeking certification in.
@edTPAtheeasyway2 жыл бұрын
Hi Lara, to my knowledge, no. the scorers will score you based on what standards you say you are trying to teach. So you write on your lesson plan “standard GS 12.4b” or whatever and then list what that standard says ie “student will be able to add and subtract single digit integers” - then as long as you teach that, you’ll be good!

Hi, thank you for these helpful videos! I am an ELA teacher, and I am a bit confused about picking the central focus and standards. Even for high school, is it ONE standard? Or one standard per lesson? Where can I find more about this? It is my natural inclination to have three standards for each lesson. Also, for the central focus, should that be built on throughout each lesson? Or is it ok to list the exact same central focus on each lesson plan? Thank you!
@edTPAtheeasyway6 жыл бұрын
Do you have the "understanding rubric level progressions" document? this will definitely break it down for you. When I did middle grades math, I did one overarching standard (it was actually part of one standard) and did 3 days of lessons and a 4th of formal assessment. I did list the exact same central focus for each lesson plan :) and in my commentary I talked about how each lesson further expanded the knowledge of that standard/central focus and how they all built on one another. :) hope that helped!

For the 3 lesson plans you choose to cover, do you stick to the same standard for all 3 lessons or are you supposed to change the standard for each lesson? A question none of my professors ever really answered...
@edTPAtheeasyway6 жыл бұрын
Because edTPA only covers a 3-5 day learning cycle, it is totally possible the standard might’ve stay the same. I even did just one part of one standard and it lasted 4 days . If you say you are focusing on more than one standard, they will hold you accountable to both teaching and assessing both standards - so just keep that in mind :)

It's a state requirement, though I wouldn't call it a test. It's actually a series of parts you must complete, most of which are from observations at your school and your own personal reflections. This isn't like the Praxis Core at all.

I'm doing Early Childhood math - 1st grade. In Task 1, the assessments I've created are mostly child-voice type...kinesthetic with a thumb raise, proof drawing when completing an equation, verbal as student explains their thinking, and one pre-assessment that is a written worksheet. Should I take a picture of the work the student is doing, a still-frame of 'thumbs-up' confirmation, and a blank worksheet? I'm so confused as to what to put in the file for assessments for task 1. I do have a test at the end to submit.
