Thank you so much for making all of these videos! I am starting my EdTPA in Special Education and I've been to a few EdTpa workshops, hands down, you have provided the best explanation on how to pass the EdTPA! Did you submit a video for each lesson to show the student's progression or did you submit one video for one lesson only?
@edTPAtheeasyway7 жыл бұрын
Aw thank you so much!! Now I know each content area has minimal differences (like I think for special ed your “focus student” requirements are slightly different than mine for gen ed) but for Task 2, you only submit one video, somewhere between 10-20 min depending again on your content requirements . So you submit full and very detailed lesson plans for every lesson in your 3-5 day learning cycle (and defend these in your commentary for task1) , but your video only captures one of those lessons most likely because of the video requirements - you can only have one “cut” in your video (again double check your requirements for special ed but I’m almost 100% this is true for everyone). Meaning your footage has to begin and then only start and stop ONE time max - so that doesn’t allow for all lessons to be shown. I’ve known one person to use two different clips from two different days in this way, but everyone else I’ve known used footage from one day because you can show the most total view of your one lesson, which is ideal. :) then you answer your commentary questions in Task 2 only on what is SEEN in the video clips - not what is on your lesson plans for that day but not seen. Hence trying to get as much on the footage as possible :) hope that helped! Ask another question if I didn’t answer yours fully :)

Sketching of mask plan the second day, and final sketch with a paragraph about their self-cultural on the final day. I have watched your last two videos and I am re-thinking the student centered activity AND how to asses. Hmmm so much to think about! But really, thank you!
@edTPAtheeasyway7 жыл бұрын
This sounds great Holly! Just make sure that all these activities tie into your one main overarching learning objective and one standard you will be assessing (or that you are at least prepared to defend how they do) :) clearly I don’t know your standards but that’s one thing my program coordinator made sure to make clear to us! Also you have to choose one “language demand” that you are focusing on the whole time - like “explain” “defend” “justify” etc - the goal of your students language use in your lesson. So make sure you think about that too! :) (I’m planning a video on those language demands soon!)

Hi Shelby, thanks for making these videos, I luckily stumbled across them. My content is U.S. History 11th grade. I am thinking that we will be covering WWII around the time I will be doing my learning segment. Although I may want to wait for the cold war. I have been trying to think of lesson plans that are more interactive for students. My mentor teacher shows videos and gives handouts with the information on them directly from the teacher note part of the standards. Students have to memorize the content until the test. He does go over the material many times and is quite eloquent, but I think most students are bored. some of them fall asleep and most of them are preoccupied with their phones.

Hello, thank you for your videos! I had a question about citations that we have to do at the end of the planning commentary. How picky are they about formatting for the citations? A lot of my citations are going to be just saying where I got materials from that weren't created by me, but the materials I will be "citing" are just me saying that my curriculum team from my school site created them (I indicated the curriculum team in my CFL). Is it enough to put: Lesson 1 Instructional Material 1 (created by curriculum team at my school site)? Also, for research/theory used, do we need to list them like a reference sheet or is it enough to just cite the theory/researcher in-text? I haven't seen anything saying we have to do citations for research at the end of the commentary, but I wanted to double check. Thank you!

I'm starting my EdTPA in high school Health. I feel so overwhelmed! I feel like I have a great relationship with my students and I try my best to keep asking questions to make them be responsible for their own learning. I teach at an alternative school, many of them already feel "stupid" so I try to pull answers out of them to get to the bigger point I was trying to make. When they see they do know answers and can apply them they feel more confident. I feel that I struggle most with the "technical" side of teaching, which make me feel more overwhelmed with this project.

Hello! Thank you for breaking down some of the rubric information. I will begin recording next semester 2019 and I'm getting a head start on every thing that I need in my video clips. My edTpa is SPED, and I will be working with 1 focused learner in middle school. If you have any helpful tips for me or anyone else in SPED program please post them!!!! It would be greatly appreciated!!!

Please make a video about how you broke the rubrics apart! That would be so helpful!
