I recently picked up a Foundry 10.5. I use camlocks on my 20g 3 vessel system and I see you adapted the output of the Foundry valve to a camlock. Can you post the part numbers and/or description and source (BrewHardware or BrewersHardware perhaps?) And my first brew on it last week (malt pipe, no bag) also resulted in too many grain particles in the boil. I also recirculated with a March pump and ball valve during mash. I would have thought after an hour of recirculating, all the grain particles would have been filtered into the grain bed. Well in about 2 weeks, w'll see how it turns out.

Thanks for checking out the video! Yeah, I see what I had set-up there was just a FPT to FPT fitting and a MPT to Male camlock.. I happened to just have thar on hand. I've since bought a 1/2" FPT to Male Camlock, or Type A instead. Works great with some teflon tape. My experience with grain in the boil is that it's annoying, but no detriment to the finished beer. But a lot of people move to include a Brew Bag. I find the back annoying, so to each their own.

It's the spiral bound version of this.. It looks like it's no longer in print.. I've had it awhile and I'm getting to the end of it. www.amazon.com/Homebrew-Journal-Ingredients-Essential-Observations/dp/0760345899

nice notebook where can I get that one?

Hi - Thanks for checking out the video. It's called "The Homebrew Journal" and it's sadly out of print. It is as you say very nice, especially the spiral bound. I'm now using a different one, that is very much a downgrade. But, I have seen some overpriced and used copies at various booksellers online. The ISBN is 9780760345894 if you want to look for it.

@@FermentationAdventures ok thank you. But can I boil anything on it ?

I’d think so.

Can you link where you got the hop spider from, I have the same size anvil and I'd like to add that in. Thanks! And great video!

Thanks! It’s the 800 micron filter for the Grainfather/Mangrove Jack’s brand. I got it direct from the gf shop, but this looks like the same one on amazon. www.amazon.com/dp/B01LDFFHNU/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_PE1IFbQN5N47X

@@FermentationAdventures thank you very much! Is the bottom of the spider resting on the bottom of the Anvil tank? Just trying to get an idea on how tall that is. I saw you had it hooked onto the tube rack.
@FermentationAdventures4 жыл бұрын
@@robh5416 hooked on. I just checked, and if you rest the hop spider on the bottom the top of the spider is right at the 5.5 gallon mark.

Love the hop spider pain to clean tho
@FermentationAdventures3 жыл бұрын
I think I mentioned it in the video, but it’s a Grainfather/Mangrove Jack’s hop spider. It has a coarser mesh (800 micron) than most on the market. I don’t find this one that bad to clean.

If you need a hand with the profile in Brewfather let me know. You can also find us on the Anvil Foundry All-Grain Brewing facebook group.

Hi, I'm a member on that facebook group! For this first go, I just took the 10.5 profile, changed the batch volume to 2.75 gallons, the boil-off to 1 Gpm for 240, and upped the brewhouse efficiency to 72%. Based on the outcome or this brew, my boil-off was more around .8 gallons since I was running at 85% power and my efficiency was closer to the default of 62%. Consequently, I missed my OG by .010 points. For my next brew I'll alter the boil-off rate and lower the efficiency per how I use the system. Thanks for checking the video!

You're recirculating way too fast. Slow it down to 1 liter per minute and you'll have no issues. Make sure your restriction clamp is post pump as well. A bag is icing on the cake. Works for me and I too have the 6.5.
@FermentationAdventures3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for checking out the video.. I'm not using the clamp. I was using my Chugger pump and a Blichmann linear flow valve on the pump. I had issues with grain particles clogging it up and slowing down the flow over time, so my flow rate in that video was all over the place depending on when I was recording. I did change back to a traditional ball valve and it's been working much better.
