It’s astonishing that this organ and room no longer exist due to the fire that demolished the Historic Sanctuary this weekend! So tragic but Dr. Jeffress said it best- the church isn’t brick and mortar (or organ pipes), it’s the people. God willing they will rebuild and we’ll hear this instrument play again.

I was not only there but also passed every day by its construction and installation which lasted six months.I wrote about this surreal experience in my blog.

Diane Bish is the queen of organists! May Diane Bish be crowned with many keys and pipes! Mr. Johann Sebastian Bach is the king of organists! May god give Bach a crown of many keys and pipes!

I can't imagine much of this organ is left after the fire that destroyed the church. This organ had been rebuilt and rebuilt and it wasn't all that good. And the room was terribly dead. I heard it only once and that was enough.

I attended the concert. This old 1983 videotape distorts the organ voice and tuning.

I know what you mean.There was much more beauty in it than what its been shown!! I attended too.Balcony on the right, looking from the platform.Unfortunately only blurred image! But the 80s had its charm!! Don't know if I would trade it for nowdays.God bless!

Does FBC Dallas still have this pipe organ in their sanctuary? I thought they had an Allen Digital Hybrid organ there now.

As far as I know it is kept in the old sanctuary.

Is this a Casavant Pipe Organ?
@sashineb.21145 ай бұрын
Part of it is from the old Eaton Auditorium (Eaton's College Street store, Toronto, Canada.) It's likely all destroyed now due to the huge fire that happened.

i think they dont have a pipe organ today at this church curse they change more and more in evangelical-creationist direktion with music bands and not the traditional chorals? and also the leader of this church is not very nice to peopel with other ways of life. on immages of the first babtist dallas you cant see any organ anymore! only modern technic. and by the way i think black churches sing amazing grace in a better way. but good playing of diane bish as allways.

This is a good historical record to document just how horrible organ music was in the early 80s as processed through the Christian music world of the time
