I was there in Hope BC, 5 years old , my mum and aunt took me to see the filming of the motorbike scene, I remember vaguely watching Stallone grab the guy off the motorbike but I got bored and went and played at the park across the street, my early years watching first blood , I spend more time looking at the town and scenery in the background than watching the movie sometimes, it’s like a strange time capsule of my childhood and vague nostalgia for that time. To this day it’s one of my favourite films to watch.

What a intelligent man sly is,at 42 minutes he talks so well about people on the verges of society, but all throughout the film Sly's commentary is absolutely fantastic.Thank you slyvestor Stallone.

Best movie Sylvester Stallone ever made " First Blood, " You can say the " Rocky movies " are the best but I say otherwise. " First Blood ", the best ever. Matter of fact, I own a video copy.

Rambo's insecurities, his hurt, his past, his desperation, his helplessness (when he runs out of options after his motorcycle crash and rummaging for things near the abandoned truck, feeling the biting cold weather) his emotions were brilliantly broght out by Sly ..and Sly's daring stunts and Oh my! the injury and fracture he sustained after his jump... I fell in love with Sly for his Rambo in First Blood..My love grows more, even today. Jerry Goldsmith helped First Blood to seep into our hearts and minds deeper .... His score with parade orchestration when the guardsmen begin their hunt gives me goosebumps! First Blood will be a relentless, constant reminder of the need for an anti war stance! Kudos to David Morrell, Ted Kotcheff, Andrew Laszlo, Jerry Goldsmith and the one and only Sly !

It's amazing how intelligent Stallone is. I mean he was very convincing at being dumb in Rocky, and yet he's actually very smart

While the action itself was great, the first Rambo really did carry a lot more meaning behind it. At the time, a lot of critics didn't get it, but it's good to see a lot of people nowadays don't write it off as just a macho action film.

When I was a child in the eighties I had a girlfriend who watched this movie for a laugh just to confirm how stupid it was, and how Rambo did more grunting than talking. To us it was the epitome of a dumb action movie. It's quite sobering to hear how much thought Stallone put into this character and that Rambo's lack of eloquence was a deliberate choice.

great commentary track! I was always ambivalent about Rambo, the right wing icon, when I was a kid. I couldn't believe how realistic and nuanced this film was when I first saw it as an adult. Stallone hit the nail on the head when he said the character of Rambo is the opposite of an establishment hero.. he is a monstrous creation of the military, who, like Frankenstein's monster, refused to be disowned by the society who created him.

Good advice at 41:43. "There's a lot of people like Rambo in their mind that are on the fence with society, so why not let them feel as though there's a chance to be brought back into the fold? Just leave them alone. Stop persecuting them. Stop humiliating them. Whatever it is--we see it all the time, people in schools; they say "oh I'm being persecuted and then they do something drastic" and it's been going on for centuries. Well this is pretty much the same situation. Stop hunting me; stop persecuting me or I'll give you a war you won't believe."

I have been to Hope BC 8 times when I served 34 years in the military..I also was a custom knife maker and had made many replicas of slys movie knife. I brought one with me in 2007 for the First Blood 25th Anniversary of the movie released in 81. Always wanted to meet Mr Stallone and give him one of my knives as a token of my appreciation for making this movie.
