It looks like that leg is completely broken, possibly her hip and that's why it's dragging on the ground. I don't think Bessy can lift it up. It's very sad to watch. Poor girl. Hope she heals quickly.

From her behaviour when he first panned to Bessy , it looked like it just happened by the way she was circling around and bleeding. She looked puzzled as why it hurts, I remember the same reaction from little Lori when her tail was run over.It might have been a car that just ran over her foot.

zerious1016 It’s unknown how she got injured. Bossy’s a good mother. She’s taking care of her newborn. Once they are weaned, they don’t hang around Mom 24/7. She may have gone off on an “adventure” with her older brother or sister and something happened. They live in the wild and these things happen. It’s sad and upsetting but there’s nothing we can do about it. :(

zerious1016 Bossy DID care for her. Rewatch Arroz’s video where he said Bossy tended to her as her saliva has antimicrobial properties. The older kids tended to Bucky as much as they could and Bossy was seen cleaning her wounds. She’s a great mother who got a bit despondent and overprotective after losing Bossy Jr.

Hello kkossor. I saw the video that JW put out last night (amazing footage and great music). But, I rarely have time to watch all the episodes at one sitting that Arroz puts out. So, I wrote this comment before I had a chance to see parts 1 and 2. Barry impresses me and has my full respect for stepping up to the plate when he is needed. I often have to watch Arroz’s videos in 2 sessions as well (but totally worth it due to the content) I totally agree with you on all points and I too give her brother Barry props. You don’t often see older males tending to babies but he and their Sister Bolly stepped up and helped since Bossy still has a very young Bucky to care for. In August, I don’t think he was fully weaned yet. And they also helped Bossy with Bucky so she could tend to Bessy’s injuries early on. I won’t say anything as you haven’t seen the last video yet? You can tell that these monkeys never have to deal with any predators, with as loud as they ALLOW their babies to throw tantrums! This kind of behavior is immediately disciplined in a wild troop, with actual predators sharing the forest.

zerious1016 No they don’t all get along. If she ventured into an area with other monkey’s from another troop, there could have been a fight. And if she went off with her older brother or sister {Barry or Bolly} she could have gotten into a situation an older Monkey could handle but she’s only barely a year old in August. Weaned from Mum and not with her 24/7.

thats what i was thinkin clearly one leg is broken so badly she couldnt move it at all meaning possibly a broken hip and the other side had cuts that had deep muscle showing that looked infected, without medical treatment a wild animal sadly wouldn't survive any of those things, let alone all 3

Bossy Jr was old enough that it's doubtful she fell from a tree, and Bessy was bitten by likely a male monkey, I think Bossy has some rivalries that we do not see. Being the Alpha there is always a threat from outside groups for infantecide. I would lean toward that as the cause of these suspicious casualties.

Oh no!!! She's going to drag her foot around until it's so infected it will become rotten imagine the pain!!! I couldn't watch I'd have to get help and catch her for veterinarian care. Leave nature ALONE be damned!!! To watch a little baby suffer needlessly when we have veterinarian's with pain med's and a wet to dry bandaging system that will heal that leg might not be 100% but she would be able to use it, I've seen dog's hit and dragged be car's with worst and recover the use of the leg again, the most important is the wet to dry will remove all dead skin so healthy tissue can grow over that bone only problem is the animal has to be knocked out for a bandage change as it's painful. Or it can be removed I'd opt to try and save the leg first. I know these monkey's get hurt lose hand's, fingers, a arm , leg and they are resilient but to see a baby suffer I can't stand it wild or not. In the wild the weakest and injured die. It's survival of the fittest but mom already lost a baby girl.
