The US focus for spending money is, as you said, wars. I am sure that with the money spent in keeping Navy task forces roaming around the 7 oceans and keeping all these military bases all over the world, they could have a respectable high speed train network. The problem is that infrastructure is not the US Gov main focus.

The most amazing thing is that many of these workers were born in cities that were filled with old, creaky bicycles and smelly, smoky mopeds. Now, they're presiding over the world's fastest land transportation network, China's HSR and Metros. They must feel such pride in what they and their fellow countrymen have accomplished.

As a Chinese railfan living in the UK, could I just point out that this is not an ultra-HST? The CR400 series are only designed to operate at a max speed of 350 kph (217 mph). There is, though, an ultra-HST (i.e. CR450 series) under testing and expected to be 400 kph (249 mph) max so do keep an eye on those future trains too. But indeed these business compartments are very comfortable to ride on - I'm truly envious as we don't have these at all here in the UK!!! The limitation possibly arises from the narrow loading gauge in the UK - a problem which will however be avoided on the new-built HS2. In due course, trains running *only* on high speed lines will benefit from a wider loading gauge, out of which I'm looking forward to a more premium seating class!

@CRH1A-1145
@CRH1A-1145 3 ай бұрын
@@fdc4810 Oh really?! I think (according to Wikipedia) the loading gauge of the new railway itself is supposed to be wider so that trains operating *exclusively* on the HS2 itself (i.e. London Euston ←→ Birmingham Curzon Street) can be wider; while trains running beyond the HS2 will be smaller in order to fit in conventional railways...? Do please point out again if I'm wrong.

Meh, you can not imagine 😂😂Remember, China has 1.4 billion people, and 20 years ago traveling on those old green trains is the most common way traveling around China. You are not just sitting for 17 hrs, you are jammed in the car like a satin fish in a can.the bench is supposed to seat 3 ppl yet usually 4 ppl would try to share the bench, and one person lying underneath, the ally way, the connection, even the bathrooms are crowded with people standing, or sitting on a little stool they bring along. Yeah kind of like the Indian trains but less crazy because we don’t hang outside the train. 😂😂😂 Now we put all that behind, and even just for this one small point, we are grateful to the CPC❤

China is rapidly building her super railways network which will definitely surpass the usa or Europeans by far. China’s next generation high speed trains will travel almost as fast as aircrafts without the hassle and time delays at the airport.

I just came back from a trip to Japan. My friends and I took the Nozomi Shinkansen from Tokyo to Osaka. Last year, I took the Fuxing Hao Gaotie from HK to GZ, GZ to SH and then SH back to HK. Comparing the Gaotie and Shinkansen, cheapest class vs cheapest class, as a passenger, I find there are pluses and minuses to each. In terms of sound, I like how the Shinkansen has that extra door front and back leading to where the passengers sit so that adds a bit of quietness. While that helps with the quietness, I find the ride noise was a lot louder than the Gaotie and some parts of the journey has these tight curves and my ears were popping as if i am on an airplane that's landing. I guess since the Gaotie is a lot newer, the government was able to smoothen out the tracks to make it flat which leads to less curves and less road noise. I know the Gaotie is big on having the feature of ordering food on board or using the app to picked up on the next stop. I never tried it but when I did want to try it, the app didn't load up the restaurant list. On the Shinkansen, there was no such feature and on my train, there was no cart with food and drink for sale. I don't know if this is consistent with all Shinkansen rides but I wouldn't be surprised if Japanese prefer quietness and less people pushing carts and up and down. Now that I am back home, I am gonna miss these trains.

Hello Lee, another very interesting video. The public services in China, such as public transport, aren't intended to make a profit, they're intended to provide a service for the people. Britain does have a high speed railway line, HS1 between London and the Channel Tunnel, with a maximum speed of 300 kph. Brightline Florida in the USA claims to be high speed but doesn't really qualify. It uses diesel locomotives, and most of the route has level crossings (at grade crossings in US terminology).

Even though impressive but HSR train timings are still about twice that of flight times minus the time it takes to go through boarding and deboarding process at the airports. In India we are required to reach at least two hours prior to the flight time. But considering the fact that these trains are zero emissions free so they are lot cleaner than airplane travel and for most people reaching their destinations one or two hours early is not always necessary so these trains make lot more sense and also as technology improves I guess HSR trains will run at even higher speeds in the future.
