I think the proper way when flying BA First is to head directly to the Jet Centre to check-in and they will send your bags to the main terminal for you.

I was flying business to Chicago a month ago and BA offered an upgrade to First for £300.........didn't take me long to hit the yes button! I have travelled First previously to Brazil and St Lucia however this most recent experience was by far the best and as you suggested the quality of food is quite literally the best I've had on any aircraft. The only let down was the aircraft was a 30 year old 777 and was showing its age. I recently went business to Sao Paulo and back on a new BA A350 and that Business Class suite is better than the First seat on a 777. Keep up the good work, great videos.

Fine dining in the skies is a wonderful experience and a shot of espresso poured over a decedent vanilla ice cream is one of those deserts that defies expectation. It's like the first time I tried lemon sorbet in between courses, or realised I didn't like gin and tonic but really enjoyed vodka tonic (no idea why). I recently flew Qatar Airways Q-Suite, and it blew BA First out of the water. The crew were phenomenal.

I found with Qatar Business (coming soon) I had to press the call bell. There was no check in once dinner had been served. No one asked me if I wanted my bed making up, I had to go and find someone.

I am glad you didn't know to go straight to the Jet Center , that way, we got to see what the shuttle looks like. I know that our First Class lounge is disappointing to many. Your is the first that I have seen that hasn't dragged it. For serving less than 10 -20 passengers a day I think it isn't too bad. I think the government made a misstep in not leasing space in the Concorde museum to accommodate the First Class lounge with airside views rather than what looks like a closet view. Enjoyable video. I hope you enjoyed your stay on my island home.

I thought the lounge was good, it was a nice space, comfortable and quiet, plenty of premium spirits and champagne (and Banks), snacks and so on. Good fast Wifi. The only thing it lacked was some hot food, but I knew I was eating on the plane so I was happy to wait. And the exclusivity of it being a private jet terminal with a ride up to the steps was awesome. I had a wonderful time on Barbados, the food, the beaches and most of all, the people were amazing. I caught myself on camera a dozen times saying I didn't want to go home, and I didn't realise I was saying it out loud. Thanks for your comment, Phil

You missed a trick mate, you should have driven directly to the PJ Terminal and checked in there. Private check-in, security and you just wander upstairs to the lounge

I wonder what the Business class lounge is like - presumably that has some food options? Flight looked very good (apart from no Chateauneuf) and it's good to see BA back to high quality food. No, I agree. I didn't know it was spec on BA First to serve them in a bowl. I've flown on other business products and the nuts were served in a bowl. Nice flight though.

Service and crew looked good certainly what you would expect in first class, BA seem be finally turning the corner and service levels are improving but BA please remove these ancient 777s from this popular route and replace them with 350s

Really enjoy watching your videos I’ve just signed up for executive club so I’m on blue. Phil do you know if you can collect Avios and tier points if the flight with BA is part of a package holiday booking via love holidays. The flight confirmation came direct from BA and the flight part is managed within the BA account even though it was booked via love holidays. Not sure if you have come across this I mean the flight price is the same as if it was booked with BA directly ?

Thanks for your kind comment and your question. I suspect that you will be able to claim the tier points and the Avios but I'm not 100% certain. You might start at manage my booking, you may be able to add it there. Alternatively, if you log into your BA Executive Club account, you should have an upcoming flights section and in that you can add your flight to using the 6 character booking reference. The only other thing I can think to try is call them. Let me know how you get on and have a lovely holiday, Phil

Another lovely video. It’s not easy to review first class honestly without coming across as entitled but you do it well! Is the bathroom situation unusual? If you forget the Asian/middle eastern airlines do many others offer (much/any) better restrooms in premium cabins?

Thanks for your comment, the lounges in Barbados aren't quite like other First Lounges around the world, but the whole "private jet terminal" aspect is awesome. The only airline that I know that does caviar in First is Emirates, do you know of any others? I would love a bit of Lobster though.

Used that "first class" lounge a couple of times. To be honest, we found it underwhelming. It's really not special, but better than the lounge in the main terminal (awful). For future reference you can check in there too, and they don't question large bottles of liquid.

Great video, yes a few minor letdowns on the detail of the service, eg as others have said nuts should be served in a dish for first and that is a BA standard, not sure why this crew did that, forgot I suppose. But overall still a nice way to fly, what was the champagne on offer? Can I make a minor suggestion, is that at some point either during the meal service or at the end of the video you show the menu offered in full including wine list? Otherwise it was great watching

Phil. A question not related to this video if I may. Have you ever flown from LHR-ORD 1st class? If so, was it worth the few hundred pounds extra, what extra benefits do you get? I know what the lounges in T3 are like but what about the First lounges at Chicago? I am looking at booking for next March as a double tier point run, and 1st class will give me 210 ew. I'll book either with a hotel or a car as I have friends I can visit in Milwaukee and elsewhere. Would you choose BA over AA for the 1st class experience. Cheers Ears. Steve. C.

BA have a lot of work to do if they're to be considered a premium airline again. Nuts in a packet in first, for me is just not premium. The meal service and offerings just don't cut it when other business class products are doing a better job. I'm sure it was a lovely experience but on Qatar, even the business bus to the gates is a premium bus. If I went first with BA and got that bus at the end I would be very disappointed! I hope they realise soon that they can't go on taking such vast sums of money from people for a product that doesn't live up to expectations against competitors.

I agree with you, they're simple touches that are easy to fix, like warming the nuts and putting them in a bowl. I don't know why they don't have some form of premium transport for business and first, other airlines seem to manage it.

Yeah, I totally get that. The Club Suite (which was the business product on this flight) is arguably better but I really like the additional space in first, but the big reason for me on this particular flight (apart from wanting to experience a long haul first flight) was First cost me less that Business. They had the same fees and taxes but first was less Avios (if you can believe it). Thanks Phil

Thats bad organisation by the crew, those aircraft have wine chillers which the pre departure drink should be put in before passengers board, the gravy should be pored and the crew member should fasten his top button on his shirt........ BA is not like it used to be!!

Yeah, they poured the gravy and sauce on my pancakes for me on the on the way out. I've never had that before and was camera at the ready on the way back. Crew member was female, don't know if that makes a difference on the top button. Thanks for your comment, Phil
