I find it suspicious and unsettling how it was so popular then dropped off radio play. Associate it with hanging out with my cousin, and in general roughly 2013-2015; mostly a positive one for me although the lyrics are cryptic, similar to Oasis' Wonderwall, somewhat unclear about who's really "lucky" or who owes whom, who's on top in the power dynamics, etc of their relationship they seem to be discussing (or lack thereof)

Like I think it should be "warrant" rather than "deserve." There's nothing lucky about that. But yeah I've spoken on this. Plus it of course contradicts the other notion the psyoppers push: that the one who was "first," who started it, needs to do the emotional labor to finish what they started. This notion is clearly incongruous with the message of this song. Frankly I think I just have to fully realize and accept that most people have no clue how love works, or is supposed to work, that it fits certain (mostly) universal or otherwise statistically normal patterns, etc

Because why else would songs like this and Wonderwall exist? Or much of what Tame Impala (suggested here, unsurprisingly) does with Currents? They don't send a clear message lyrically at all, and seem designed not to, often with actual gibberish for lyrics even. The lyrics analysis website Genius mostly waves its hands, giving something of an obvious, quick synopsis stating they're about difficult situations involving romantic love (one-sided/unrequited or not, they never say). This is undeniably a cop-out, and likely deliberately so, designed to confuse those low in love (and hence life in general) into making bad, uninformed decisions which only hurt them further in the long run.
