I get your point. I view them as two separate things I can love for different reasons. Like you, I love the rhythm and punch from the original. But then I love the stripped down version that lets the vocals and lyrics shine.

I’ve listened to this exact recording ~100 times. Love it, solid performance. Way to bring it gents. 'Flying like a cannonball, falling to the earth, lighter than a feather when you hit the earth' What does that mean? It's beautiful.
@HoboDave12 Жыл бұрын
My take on that lyric (have no clue if this is accurate) - the combustible and tumultuous relationship was "the cannonball," crashing to the Earth as it ended. But the ending for her was not painful and was "light as a feather" since she already emotionally moved on to another lover - referencing back to the cheating and lying in the opening line.

It did not take me long to figure out WHY the song sounded so familiar. I had no idea that "Can't Help Me Now" by Rob Thomas was on his newest Album "Chipped Tooth Smile" which was released in August 2029. For all I new the song could have been from early 2000's. I realised The song I was thinking of was "First", by Cold War Kids. I was real quick to jump on Cold War Kids for ripping off Rob Thomas. Even though I heard the song "First" a few years ago) a
