First Comic Haul of 2024 Turns a Profit!

I met up with this guy at a McDonalds and grabbed enough books to double my investment (and possibly make even more!) This could be a great start for the business! a Good omen!

That's basically the only reason I collect comics these days. From 2001 to about 2011 I collected and read comics. Stopped for a few years. Started collecting for covers alone in April of 2023. That's when I discovered virgin variants. Help! Spent too much for three or four months. I buy very few now because health problems are eating my spending money. Oh, well... HAPPY 2024!

@@PunguinYoga firstly I hope your health Improves. I don’t really buy any comics from 1990 onwards so the variant conundrum isn’t a thing for me. Every comic I own or buy is to read and then joins the collection. If I buy a comic for $5 or $100 it is still a reading comic first. I do think graded comics are cool, but I don’t own any or have never submitted. I just want a version that looks good, but I don’t have to worry if I add a crease when reading.

Last couple of years Ive been keeping Brother Voodoo in my thoughts as a speculative character for the MCU. Then the MCU went off the rails. Still love that book.

Happy New Year to you James. Very nice group of comics. I'm constantly surprised by how much the early Brother Voodoo appearances sell for considering that he's been little used in the Marvel Universe and no-one who isn't a comics reader would even have heard of him. Challengers Of The Unknown is a fun title that influenced Stan Lee's development of the FF. There's something about those DC Giants that makes them so desirable even if I don't normally collect the titles.

Interesting content. I just got back collecting the last couple of years, just buying collections like this. I keep track of all my hauls on CLZ, and I've had some stellar ones. Nothing going to make me rich, but I've spent about 3-4k over the last few years for a collection of market value 16-17k. I'm at the point now that I need to sell some to pay my mortgage... sigh.
