Rogapol, I remember that, there were 4 episodes or something. The amount of work by France, Germany, Italy Spain and the UK is unbelievable. Well done to airbus. The flaps are pretty loud, but it is the way airbus had to design it due to the size. They had a nice session of applause there, as it was a fantastic flight. I wonder what buzz the pilots must get from achieving something as important as that.

I love the background music. It goes very well!

The chime sound means that the plane is still on the runway. It is also the same when the plane enters the runway, you get 2 chimes instead of one.

Jesus..what an enormous wing. I got to fly on a 777 several years ago..this wing is at least twice as thick, and amazingly 60 feet longer! The 747 will still always fascinate me though...the 747 and A380 are both planes that are just out of this world.

Discovery channel had a fabulous documentary on the making of this aircraft...we look at them and fly in them, but gee some technology goes into the making of these magnificent flying machines.

She's really an amazing aircraft--very graceful. I fly a simulated version on FS2004, and if it's dynamics are anything like the real thing, then it's a real joy to fly
@rsowder15 жыл бұрын
Those are actually speed breaks, not spoilers. Spoilers are located under the center of lift on the wing, which sailplanes use. Commercial airliners use speed breaks, which are located further aft on the wing.
@Gerardius15 жыл бұрын
The music has not been added by the author of this vid, is the ambient music prior to the landing. I agree with you, is better to hear the engineering masterpiece of the turbines. :P

@musico8198616 жыл бұрын
Great video! Listening to that elevator music would of killed me if I was on that flight! I noticed braking took a long time! Either the airplane was aiming for the end of the runway to turn-off, or it really needed the braking distance because of 2 reversers. You cut-out the flap retraction! I'll give you +4 overall.

SINGAPORE AIRLINES WINS ONCE AGAIN AS "THE AIRLINE OF THE YEAR FOR 2008". "For the 3rd time in 10 years, Singapore Airlines has been named World's Best Airline, winning the 2008 Airline of the Year title in the latest World Airline Awards" said Edward Plaisted (CEO of Skytrax). "We extend our congratulations to them for this notable achievement, coinciding with the time that Singapore Airlines was the world's first airline to fly the Airbus A380."

i don't know for sure but i assume that it's the hydraulic pumps used to pressurize the pistons to deploy and retract the flaps

The 747-8 is just an upgrade to an existing model. This is an entirely new model.. I still think Airbus will have a hard time breaking even, but the plane is amazing.
@dtw77716 жыл бұрын
I also heard it's so that they will not pick up any debris and damage the engines while doing so, because they're beyond the width of the runway. I am not 100% sure on that, but it's what I heard.
@Shakemagroovethangg17 жыл бұрын
I think the flaps are already down. And remember, the ammount of flaps is governed by the height above sea level (of the airport) the weight of the aircraft, runway length etc.

@goingtobeapilot15 жыл бұрын
Well, they are the ailerons too, but in this case they are being used as brakes to slow the plane down... do to the pilot activating the spoilers... aka speed brakes.

also to save weight, because Airbus proved that the A380 could be stopped with spoilers and brakes alone, however the FAA requires reverse-thrust.
@Edwiness17 жыл бұрын
Are you sure about that? There didn't seem to be much vibration but the flaps when they closed after touchdown made more noise than the engines on take off!
@saifultrains16 жыл бұрын
very nice and clear video :) Lucky guy
@Jigsaw40717 жыл бұрын
I know... but it could still have been the A380's first commercial crash. My point is: a landing was only successful, when the aircraft (especially a huge and heavy one as this) has successfully slowed down. There is video here on youtube filmed from he cabin, where you can hear people clap after touchdown. And then you can hear them scream, because the aircraft went off the runway.
@boyzroks17 жыл бұрын
i bet you that the pilot was holdin his breath, heart pumping super fast when he landed. notice how careful he was at landing! nice vid anyways p.s.lucky u, u didnt get busted at all for videotaping! how did you do that?i wonder how my dad stilll calls us when hes in the middle of taxing to the runway, he might say "quick, you talk to me and ill listen" i would ask,"y?", then he would say "shush, the flight attendents coming near me. next thing you know, a girls yelling at him :D

Carbon brakes are more efficient when they are nice and hot plus they wear alot less when they get upto temperature.Pilots are told when taxing to brake hard when coming onto stand etc as the brakes will wear alot more if they are dragged!! Plus it saves weight and makes it less complex!

You mean the A320-100 (first version, no wingfences) is better then the A320-200 (main version, wingfences)? That is a very odd thing to say by a pilot. Especially because wingfences are different from winglets.

@Airportchris2 You dont have to be afraid. The a380 is a topmodern aircraft flown by the best pilots. Thrust me, its a million times saver then going by car or bus! And in case of engine failure, you dont crash like a stone, Aircrafts, even such a big one, can glide for a very long distance. Plus: You can land with only 2 engines running very well.
@thomascook2k715 жыл бұрын
I read somewhere that the A380 produces 30% fuel emmissions per passenger compared to the 747!

less pressure on the runway than many other jets b/c it has 4 more wheels than a 747. Composites also save weight.
