@@CruisingCanucks we’re going from Trieste in Italy to Barcelona in Spain next August and on Paul & Carole’s Patreon cruise in April 2026. Our first experience of Cunard is a short one from Southampton to Rotterdam in June 2025 aboard QM2. It covers Ruth’s birthday *and* it’s QM2 so we’ve booked a Princess Club balcony. thanks for showing us around, enjoyed it. Im going on my first cruise in 3 weeks, was wondering how you got the upgrade and how much it cost? Was it when you got on the ship or before hand? Cheers. Ix
@CruisingCanucks3 ай бұрын
We received offers to bid and pay for any upgrade a couple of months prior to the cruise. We decided not to bid because we were happy with the large interior that we had book. However we realized a couple of weeks before our embarkation that Cunard had upgraded for free.

I thought most lines did muster that way since the pandemic. I assume you watched the video? The theory being; you watch the video so you know what to do, find your muster station so you know the route to it from your cabin and get scanned to confirm it's done. Depending on rules in certain countries a full physical muster must be carried out every so many months.
@CruisingCanucks4 ай бұрын
we did watch the video in our cabin later. Every cruise has tweaked the order in how they want the muster completed. We have been on some ships where you must arch the video before going to the physical muster station.

All the excitement was a little over the top. I think we heard you say it was your first time on Cunard about 1,000 times! That said, it was a cool first hand look at the ship. Cunard is often criticized for very slow dining room service and it's tiered passenger class system. Be interesting to know if you sensed that and also how it compares in quality v price with HAL, Princess and Celebrity.
@CruisingCanucks3 ай бұрын
1000 times!? That's once every 2.4 second - we can see how that would be over the top. We booked this cruise because it was at a little less expensive than princess or Hal with equal (or some might say better) service.

Did you have kippers for breakfast Jerry dear, Jerry dear?
@CruisingCanucks3 ай бұрын
What’s a kipper? Plant? Animal? Pastry?
@mikemurphy21123 ай бұрын
@@CruisingCanucks A kipper is a whole herring, a small, oily fish, that has been split in a butterfly fashion from tail to head along the dorsal ridge, gutted, salted or pickled, and cold-smoked over smouldering wood chips (typically oak). In the United Kingdom, Republic of Ireland and some regions of North America, kippers are most commonly eaten for breakfast. Obviously you are not a Supertramp fan. Paulie Morgan would have picked up on this instantly. Enjoying your videos.

Cunard is pronounced with the letter qunard

Yes that is the British pronunciation- however, in Canada where Samual Cunard was from (and formed Cunard), it's pronounced Cunard. Gotta love all the weird and wacky nuances of the English language and accents.
