WWHHOOOAAAA Matt this is incredible what a beautiful thing making saw dust and boards!!!! What a week a beautiful baby boy and the mill making the first cut doesn't get any better than that. Congratulations Matt and try to get some sleep tonight between a new born and the excitement of the mill working I know I wouldn't be able to sleep.

Congratulations, Matt. As one who still can't make square cuts or join boards together without twisting, racking & horrible gaps in the joints, I can't imagine the challenges you've overcome to bring the mill to life. Amazing.

Matt when you get all of the details and upgrades you plan worked out on your bandsaw mill you should come up with a way (maybe a vac setup) to collect your saw dust and make your own wood pellets for wood burn heating the shop. If you use the mill half as much as I think you will, buying a pellet making machine, building some drying racks, then bagging the pellets with canvas bags or 5 gal pails, and my guess is you could save a ton in winter heating costs for the shop. It's just an opinion, but maybe it's something you hadn't considered. I love the build. I hope you get the log side blade guide clearance issue worked out. Probably be easier to move the back log guide posts rather than attempting to modify the blade guide so it clears the back side of the log better. Anyway, this is incredible! Thank you for allowing us to come along on your journey. I know it takes a lot to film and edit and the whole process could have been quicker w/o all the sharing, so I, like many out there genuinely appreciate you sharing the adventure! Happy holidays!

if you want the vfd to slow down faster, check its braking capacity....you may need to add a resistor bank to absorb all of the electricity the motor is making as it slows down.

Matt, you may want to install a collapsible Accordian type sleeve to protect the acme thread height adjusters. That way you can lubricate the nut/adjuster interface. An example would be a universal tensile machine. You can google a photo of one.

Ask Santa for a dedicated tool-belt for your #Woodworking #Sawmill tools, #MassiveMatt. They'll go where you go and be there when you need them.....hang it on the mill when your done with it for that day. Awesome to see it cutting wood! Maybe save a piece of this historic day by using one of the boards as a Growth Chart for your kids? You know, where you regularly mark on the board how tall they're getting. Most people use a door jamb in their homes, but they don't have a Massive Sawmill ;-) Happy for you! Great to see Papa Cremona enjoying your accomplishment with you - very cool!

Hi Matt, Congratulations on the new addition to the family and getting the first cut with your bandsaw! I think I was as excited as you to see that everything worked on the saw. Your attention to details paid off. Will you be adding a hydraulic lift to the saw head to adjust the cut thickness for each slab? Will you use something like screw jack in the meantime? Thanks for the updates. Merry Christmas, Mike O.
