I woke up this morning really excited to try my sawmill for the first time but very anxious to know if it was going to work. Myself and dot towed it up to the wood pile and made out first 5x5 post and a load of slabs for the top workshop. next week i will be milling timber all week for the greenhouse.
Enjoy

I think diesel engines for this use are not the issue with fossil fuel usage in the world today and nor will they ever be. We all know where the real issue with fossil fuels are. I'm sure he mentioned some veg oil getting used though....either way I think the engine is a fine choice :)

@@naiknieh This, my neighbour has a 60x40 shed with approximately 10-15 conical piles 10ft high of random metal parts, boat parts, tractor parks, Alaskan mill parts, chainsaw parts, honestly any time I encounter a 40-50 year old piece of machinery with a broken part that no one makes anymore I go there and usually find it, covered in rust of course, but enough to be able to rebuild the part and have it work properly again. He's an older man, raised poor during the depression, doesn't throw a damn thing away.

Dear Kris Harbour. 👍👌👏 Absolutely fantastic! Even more because you painted it British racing green! ;-) I love nearly everything that is green. By the way: A just realized that your excavator, van and post hammer device are green too. All you have to do now is paint the tractor green. ;-) Congratulations! With a few modifications you will be even more happy with the result. That sawmill is another big project you can be very proud of, no doubt about that! I'm really grateful that we didn't have to wait to see it cutting until next weeks video release. As always: Thanks a lot for making teaching explaining recording editing uploading and sharing. Kris, this is magical. I can only imagine how good this day must have felt! I watched the whole build series for your mill, and am so impressed with your skills and cool ability to deal with problems that arise. Well done! I should also thank you: I am subscribed to 439 YT channels (excessive?), but you remain one of the handful of people I return to regularly for the inspiration to do some of the things I'm dreaming about. My dream has some differences from yours (and I'm older, and have less time to get it all done), but is very similar in some ways. I had stopped watching you for a while--got distracted by other things. It's nice to come back after a time to see that the things you've dreamed about are actually working. You're showing the world that these things are possible, and you're truly making a difference. P.S. I think the mill needs a cool paint job--like a shark's mouth over the blade, big flames, or something equally tacky? ;)

The part I loved the most was when you finished cutting and you showed your girlfriend in the background, she looked as if she was saying, “My boyfriend just built this, isn’t that great?” You should run the camera while you are cutting up more planks, I find sawmill videos to be very interesting. Haven't read all the comments , what I am about to suggest may already have been suggested. As a 15year old laddie,(1955), I worked in a woodyard, my job was removing the bark from the sticks,(trees), these would be used for the pit props. the machine used for this purpose would eject the peeled bark through an outlet similar to your sawdust extracter.at the end of the funnel were three hooks welded onto the outside of the funnel, by hooking on a hessian sack to these three hooks we collected the majority of the peeled bark with little spillage, you might want to consider this. By the way , I cannae drive a nail in straight , maybe that is the reason I really enjoy your videos. Thanks for all of them.
