Love the G111. Runs like a scalded dog with a skiptooth chain because the skiptooth allows the saw to maintain higher ripums due to less drag which means greatly reduced bogging stalls.

I think those big dogs are worthless on that size of saw, for me anyway. I prefer the smaller ones, since they are closer together. I think they just work better. Maybe those big dogs would help more in a thick bark, but what limbs I use to cut never had a super thick bark that needed it. But I'm not a professional and never have been, so I sure could be wrong. Lol I loved the video. I just bought the G111 because I missed my Stihl ms200t and can't afford even a used one anymore. So I'm glad to see your clone saw is working so well. I'm looking forward to seeing or hearing about what your friend thinks about it and how well it works for him. 😎👍

Thanks for reviewing this saw. We have arborists in the family. So I can tell you that top handle saws are for tree work. They are supposed to be powerful in a small unit, balanced and easy to maneuver while working in a tree. (When you can avoid it, 0ne-handed use is dangerous and I would not promote it in a public forum like this.) I am supposing the Stihl bar fit your saw well since there was no mention of it in your video. This brings to mind a suggestion. Since you have to get a bar for the Chinese saw anyway, don't get the Stihl bar. You can't grease the bearings in the roller or sprocket tip. I would suggest getting any good bar that you can grease, and keep the bearings in good shape. I have only recently become aware of the Chinese chainsaw copies. Our brother in law just got the 440. We will be watching to see how well that saw does, especially in the long run. It may work out that we will get a couple of their saws...depending. The Jonsered arborist saw we got a couple of years ago did indeed cost the $600 figure you quoted. We love that saw. Not so much the MS 192 that has given us periodic fits for over two years.

There is no gaurentee with any saw or saw company that will make up for down time. But I must admit that for the $, I have been thoroughly impressed by Farmer tech. You are correct in thinking that time will be the best measure. Once winter has passed here I hope to get some more chainsaw videos up.

the saw is made to be used with one hand, this man does not know how to use the saw, small limbs are impossible to cut using both hands, you can do serious damage to body especially your testicles if you do not have control of the wood, hold with one hand cut with the other thats why the saw was invented.........you can use both hands on larger wood

@@edwinwilkerson6051 Technically there is no such thing as a one handed saw, no top handled chainsaw manual says you can safely use one hand. It may be easier in some cases but if you hurt yourself, there's no one else to blame but yourself.

Oh yeah mine does the grab and bog too even with a fresh untouched 61PMM. I am thinking by running it fat(me too) the saw just doesn't have the torque it needs at the lower RPMs. Going to be putting it to the test doing trail work if my boss doesn't throw a fit about bringing a Chinese knockoff to work. So how's your G111 doing these days?

I have put a 10 inch dime tip bar and a 1/4 pitch sprocket and chain on it. It is now my detail saw when I do chainsaw carvings. I use my JonCutter G2500 as my small "trail saw" (good term for it by the way) its only 25cc but very light weight and I haven't had the bogging issue with it, I even run a full chisel chain on it LOL. The G111 still has its moments seems like if I use it more than 30 minutes or so I have to adjust it. Not sure why that is though.

Seems to me like the large spike on the bottom caused the saw to dig in a little to quick in the hard wood but reaching out an barley reaching a green limb an the saw jerking the limb back again the spike would be a plus I bet?

I just subscribed, have seen a few of your videos over the last couple of years but I just now pulled the trigger on a used but good Husqvarna 435 X-Torq. I would have ordered one of these saws but we just had a tree in our front yard cut down and I decided I wanted to keep some of it to make stump seats and some other odd and ends with it. I have an older Homelite C-51 that I was going to use to do some cutting but I need to go through the carb and fuel filter and figure out why it's not drawing any fuel, might need a new carb kit and filter. Anyway, I needed to get this tree cut up quick to get it out of the front yard so I went ahead and bought a used Husky. I think it would be interesting for us newbies if you explained which saws that these are copies of along with maybe some history on those particular models and what they were more or less used for. Like the saw in this video looks to me like a copy of an older Stihl, I'm not sure, and is designed to be roped up into trees and used for branch cutting, not really sure but some info on these models would be interesting.....

@@mitchelsallseason9359 the new 201tc-m saws are actually pretty good. A lot of people don't like the m tronic carbs, but it is definitely better than the 201t they were selling a few years ago. they gave everybody that owned one problems.

Noah Cambre I have a 201tc brand new. It’s not the same when climbing as the power you get from a razor sharp 200T that’s modded up. It almost jumps out of your hands it’s so powerful. I used to be able to cut up to 24” wood without wasting time. Then I swap to my 261C and then to my 362C. All the other new saws work pretty good. It’s just that dang 200T I miss the most.

I think the g111 is probably a good saw, but for about the same price I can get an echo 355, which also has a 35cc engine and has a dealer network for parts and service. Hutzl will have to get the price of a g111 below $200 before I would be willing to take a chance on it. Thanks for the video!

I agree. But these saws are for people that work on their own saws and all of the parts are available thru Farmertec not to mention Sthil parts for the 200t fit it too.

Hey that saw looks and sounds great, I was thinking of getting the kit version as I like building saws I've already done the ms660 kit and it's a beast. The 200t has a max no load rpm with bar and chain of 14000rpm so I'd let it break in and go somewhere around 12500 to 13500rpm I like to keep them a little rich 32/1 fuel as well, you likely know this just wanted to be helpful 👍 how does the saw feel and the quality etc ? Do you see the need for the big dog on the saw ? I see it as something to stab me in the leg hanging from my harness while I climb. By the way your chain and sharpening is good I like an aggressive chain especially on a bigger saw

Yea those bumper spikes on it are as aggressive as the chain LOL. I have broken my lower back twice so I don't climb anymore, occasionally I go up in a bucket on a lift, but long past worming around in a tree. I set it currently at about 12k rpm, once I get thru the break-in i will up it a bit more.

How do you like that little Echo? In light of Jonsered's price and Stihl's problems I have been thinking of an Echo top handle saw. I have an Echo Power Pruner, which has been a good thing. Whacha think?

Gloria, I don't think you can go wrong with an Echo top handle. The price is better than Stihls top handle and Echo is very dependable. The only place where Stihl is better is in aftermarket parts availability and price of parts.

For $250....u could build up one of these for $100 xtra and have a worker!!! I've done a few up with stihl piston/rings, carb, and clutch and it wakes them up for sure. Sometimes the oiler needs a little attention also but overall it's a heck of a deal IMO

Dogs are enormous for the size of the saw, that makes the pivot a little weird when cutting? With a few strokes filed off the cutters and/or a good tune on the carb should be very usable tophandle. How's the oil output? Can you loan it out to a climber for a month or so then report back?

I thought the same thing- those dogs look a little silly on that saw. I'd take a plasma cutter to those, or run it without. Other than that, good start. See how it goes after break in. 👍

Jeffrey Harris if it was me I would probably swap those huge dogs to a bigger saw and take the bigger saws “smaller” dogs and move them over haha. I definitely agree. A bit large for climbing. Stihl 200 & 201T come with dogs that are too small and now this one too big. One day someone will get that right size haha. I’m a full time licensed climber 20 days a month every month.

Looks pretty cool I used to work in the woods back a few years ago until the processors moved in and stole all the work around here, I still do a few side jobs every now and then and do not need to purchase the best thing on the market, Ive been watching a lot of your videos and think you may be on to something with using these saws, everything is made in china anyway these days, even the Husky's and Stilh have at least some parts made in other country's?

Not sure about husqvarna, but Stihl has a factory in Qingdao, China. Do not know what exactly of their line is made there but its pretty big. I know Husq has a factory in Brazil. I think the world just needs to face the fact that it is already a world economy and quit dogging companies because of where they are from. I have traveled all over the world, lived at least some time in 7 different countries and I can tell ya that everyone of them I went to the people were hard working good hearted people just like a majority of Americans. So I just cannot bring myself to be prejudiced against the fruits of their labor anymore than I can be against something that is made here in the US. Now their Governments I do not always agree with, but they don't often have much control over their governments.

Was thinking the whole time, "Man I hope that's a dull chain", til you mentioned it was not....Do you have experience w/ 200/201t's? How would you compare this to them? I just learned of this saw, and Farmerrtec in general, LOVE the idea of a clone that'd take OEM parts (instead of my climbing saws ie scheppach 25cc and tanaka 33cc, neither take 'standard' parts / need to buy replacement stuff directly for your unit usually quite expensive relatively...) BUT, gotta say, I was expecting FAR better cut-speeds....out of curiosity what do you recommend for analysis while tuning/testing? I've been using my tach but recently switched to just filming myself making (3) cuts, quick as I'm capable, through this long log I've got setup for this purpose, so I can make another "after mods" vid and see if my 'best-time for 3 cuts' speed has improved / by how much! I'm uncertain if they originated that "Jon Cutter" 25cc/10 or 12" top-handle that's all over ebay/amazon/etc, I got the 'Scheppach' badged unit >1/2yr ago and thing is a monster I still rate it an A+ and am planning to get a 2nd to try and modify/enhance :D Wasn't sure if the Tanaka 16"/33cc would suffice for my 'big climbing saw' but now thinking it's about as good as I'll get w/o getting a 200/201t, a husq or the echo c355t, seeing how little difference there was I'm now thinking to forget higher-end stuff and just work w/ my scheppach & tanaka for this season, *then* make the move to LiPo for most of my gear :D

I noticed that the smaller saws have more of a grab-n-bog issue than the bigger sawa. As far as price goes, is a specialty saw and most likely fewer of them made hence the higher price is my guess..

I will point out the cylinder is 35cc and the kit is like the oem and is 40cc. I also wonder if it little beauty has two rings. Wonder why they did that? I looked at it this afternoon and was surprised. That's a big deal, one for power and they say it's like the 200t which is not true. But I like the colors

The Kit and the power head are both 35cc. The MS200T is also a 35cc (35.2 cc actually). You can buy a top end kit for it that makes it 40cc which would be more in line with, i think, the MS193T (May have been the 191 that was 42cc but one of those was). But your observation on the rings has me curious I may just have to pop the muffler off and take a peek to find out.

It's a copy of a Stihl. Stihl uses 2 rings, so I would think so.

running the first 3 tanks 25 to 1, After that It will be 50 to 1, Holzfforma suggests 25 to 1 so for the break in that is what I use but honestly they could probably run just fine on 50 to 1 the whole time.

they are nice but all models are too heavy. the top saw is 4 kilos heavier than the stihl 880 and has only 4.8kw, while the MS880 has 6.4kw.. but according to that the chinese top saw is 1600$ cheaper, its nice. I have to say, that i like the G388. Its nice and especially the chain seems like very good quality. But again its too heavy. Stihl MS261 C-M : 50,2 cm³ , 3,0Kw/4,1HP , 4,9kg Stihl MS362 C-M : 59 cm³ , 3,5Kw/4,9HP , 5,6kg Holzfforma G388 : 72cm³ , 3,6Kw/4,8HP , 8kg but i do understand why you choose this saws. they are cheaper, you might have leg-arms and a very strong back, you do not want to support Stihl/Dolmar/Husqvarna/Makita etc. thank you for the videos about these chinese saws, i didnt know anything about them before.

Unfair comparisons my friend. Compare them to the models that they are cloned from. G388 to MS360. The G111 to an MS200T. The G660 to an MS660. And as a 50 year old man the weight doest bother me.

LOL Bucking spikes had little to do with it. It was in break in so wasn't getting full power, and the brand new chain was grabbing very nicely. I have used it a lot since and now that its broke in even with a brand new chain and the spikes it pulls right through.
