First Day Logging the Barking Dog Timber Sale!!! - Stihl MS660 - Family Logging Company in Alaska

In This Video I Return to the Forest to harvest the Barking Dog Timber Sale.
I travel from Juneau to Corner Bay on my 32' Wooden Sailing Cutter Sage.
I fall exceptionally Nice Size Second Growth Spruce Trees - AND I have a very good time doing it.
These logs are going to a customer up north who is building his own Log Home.

Thank You George I really love logging Second Growth. The trees are a nice size, easy to fall and control. The terrain is flat. It is really enjoyable and fun. I got the 80pc - 50' Length - from my Dad - I cut another Truck load and Half + Today - Thanks George Sterling

Love the channel and it's content but having been a forester cutting trees down for over 35 years can't understand why you leave the stumps as high.

Thank you for Commenting George. I am used to logging old growth spruce, where I have to cut way up high over my head, 6-7' height, to get past the swelled root buttress. I am interested in your comment - I will work on keeping them lower. Thank You Sterling

In Scotland we cut the butt's to ground level or just above so we can run over the top with skidder forwarder or excavator and trim the butt's a lot easier for transport and working.
