I don’t know why this video come across my suggestions however I’m glad it did.. I’m a 29 year old male in the UK and had a horrible time at school leaving with zero qualifications and I’m now having to study as an adult… The point I’m making is if every teacher was like you everyone would love school.. I really like ur videos and you inspire me to do well as an adult learner! Keep it up x

Congrats on the air conditioning and in school learning. I had a white spaghetti strap eyelet dress like that in the early 80's. Loved that dress. ☺️. Been watching since you were a first year, first grade teacher in Massachusetts. I'm a 15 year infant teacher in corporate daycare in Ohio. Your love for your job, the kids and your enthusiasm keep me coming back. Hope you have a great year.

Your enthusiasm is amazing, hopefully all of your students have shown up by now. By week 2 half of my students got quarantined so I have been teaching only 6 kids in person. Lots of one on one. 😆

Ripping paper, playdoh, clothespins are all great for fine motor! Also if you place a cotton ball in the child’s palm (so they can grasp it) as they hold their pencil will help them with their pencil grasp :)

You make me smile within a few SECONDS of the video! You are contagious and I love youuuuuuuuuuuu! Also yes, only having part of your class makes it soooo hard to practice those routines, but you will get there don't worry :) Also I'm going to be starting fine motor bins in my room next week, but maybe you could just incorporate some of those activities as early finishers?

Congratulations on making it through! I wonder if the other 8 kids will come soon? I teach middle school and my first day was a little light too in # of students. It's tough because I've had to go over everything again and again as kids filtered in.

I teach 6th (still elementary in my district) and had 4 kids gone on day 1. By day 3 my entire class had to quarantine. Mad rush to move online... My class returns this Friday, but my young daughters entire class just got quarantined yesterday... Not a pretty year so far. Your students are so lucky to have you, best of luck this year!

I was so happy to hear about your A/C! I hope Kim from Elementary in the Mitten gets some A/C too! I have 20 but only had 13 this past week for quarantine and haven't had all 20 one day yet.

Congratulations Lauren on your first day of school. Loved the dress and earrings. I have watched your vlogs for a long time. They are always interesting and informative. The thing I truly love about you is your sense of humor. Your facial expressions are priceless. I laughed so much when you discussed the black garbage bag covering the fan.😂 You are a comedian. Have a fun and successful school year. Your children will love you!

One idea that I did to help with pencil grip one year was: have the children bring in one sock. Your cut out 2 holes; one for the thumb and one for the index finger. The rest of the fingers stay inside the sock. I was teaching 2nd graders at that time. Good luck! 👍😁🍎✏️🖍

Hello grade one!!! Only seven students?? I had between 24-37 students in the different schools I supply taught in. I had to provide enough activities and teach lessons as always. My classes were always FILLED WITH STUDENTS!!!! The other teachers ran away so I accepted the supply work. I adapted to large schools with large classes and PLENTY OF WORK TO DO!!!!! Thank you kindly for sharing your classroom. You are appreciated and I enjoyed grade one.

Do you have structured play in first grade? i.e. play activities in different centres.
@puttingthemfirst3 жыл бұрын
Technically, no it is not a part of our schedule. However, we have a “brain break” that can be used at teacher discretion (snack time, outdoor mask break, etc.) that I have been using for free play centers. It has been working very well for us!
@lauramcdonald79693 жыл бұрын
@@puttingthemfirst I teach in the UK and taught primary for years and now teach adults. I tended to do a specific time for play in the mornings, based on a theme etc so it was mostly structured rather than free play. It's always interesting to see the differences between different education systems. We don't tend to have specialist teachers for pe or art etc, sometimes some schools have music teachers,so kids with u most of the day. Love watching your videos, love your new sound wall. Will be interesting to see how that goes for you. So excited to hear that u got your ac! So much easier teaching when it's not roasting. Have a good year!

I respectfully disagree. It is a widely recommended practice to spend time in the beginning of the year establishing procedures and creating a respectful, warm classroom community so that efficient learning is possible for the remainder of the academic year. That is not time “wasted”. 😊
