First day of girls in Grade 7 | Ateneo de Manila Junior High School

9 August 2024 marks a significant milestone as the Ateneo de Manila Junior High School welcomed girls in Kinder and Grade 1 for the first time in the school’s nearly 165-year history. More than 2,100 Ateneans were in the AJHS campus for the beginning of School Year 2024-2025, with 161 new students in the first cohort of girls in the Junior School.
Among the tween and teen learners welcomed were 696 Grade 7 students, 161 of whom were AJHS’ first-ever cohort of girls. Making the milestone event more festive were the boys and girls of Ateneo’s legendary Blue Babble Band and Battalion, who pounded on their drums and vigorously cheered the students on as they arrived on the AJHS campus for day one of the new school year.
