It's great to see FSU's medical school evolve to such a large institution. In 2002, I moved to FL from Colorado. I had done a summer course with anatomy lab taught by an MD/PhD and 2nd year COM students at the Denver Health Sciences Center. That anatomy lab with the classic "Netters" book was absurd with the volume of memorization in such a short summer. We did the lab for the upper body and head/neck. The Circle of Willis was insane to identify along with cranial nerves. From having experienced the CU Medical School as a summer session, I was curious to see what FSU had. I remember walking by a building that looked like a trailer somewhere out west of the Leach Gym. I could smell the formaldehyde. Apparently, FSU was on the cusp of starting a new medical school in its infancy. Now, it's huge with thousands of applicants. I studied MPH at FSU and had two classmates in biochemistry that went onto medical school - one at FSU. As for me, I had pondered medical school or the pharmacy degree since I did well in biochemistry. Those two students I mentioned actually wanted me to try for medical school. But ultimately, I finished the MPH and decided to stay in my field of biomedical engineering - another MS I had. So, I now work at Medtronic with AWS Cloud Computing and Machine Learning.
