First day of reign for Frederik X and Mary of Denmark

Frederik X of Denmark and Queen Mary have starred in their first official act as king and queen. The new monarch participated in a reception at the Danish Parliament, where he was supported by the royal family, including Queen Margrethe. The Danish Royal Family arrived at the Danish Parliament, occupying one of the boxes.

I think its wonderful that the former Queen can see her son in the roll of King. What a great thing for the monarchy. Lets face it, people live much longer now. I think with Christian having turned 18 and him being well adjusted and mature (well at least it seems so from where I am sitting) it is a good and sound decision she has made. Since this was a Ceremonial part of the transition, it would be strange, if he was not there! Our Parliament had invited the 6 Royals, who can Officially act as Head of State. King Frederik, Queen Mary, Crown Prince Christian, Queen Margrethe, Prince Joachim and Princess Benedicte. I have been uncertain about the reason for Queen Margarethe's abdication and feeling sad for her if she really didn't abdicate for health reasons. But looking at her today, I can't help but wonder if she is enjoying watching her son fulfill his destiny. King Frederik is 55. The Queen was on the throne for 52 years. This is the first time in 52 years she is just being a mom.

@@ladythalia227 Since this video is about the Parliament acknowleging the new Reigning Monarch, i have to say, that Queen Margrethe was not personally there back in 1972. She was in mourning. The Prime Minister back then ( Jens Otto Krag ) read a short proclamation from the new Monarch. This time it was more of a celebration, because it was not after the death of the former Monarch. The Speaker of Parliament held a speach. Our current Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen did the same. And then she read a short proclamation from the new Reigning Monarch King Frederik ( the Reigning Monarch NEVER speaks officially in Parliament!).

Queen Emerita is a wonderful Title for Queen Margrethe. The title Emeritus/Emerita is very rarely awarded to anyone . It is awarded by the United Nations to an internationally exceptional person. Queen Mary's father is Professor Emeritus for his outstanding Service to Astronomy , and Astro physics. Winston Churchill is /was Britain and the world's only Premier Emeritus-Not even General de Gaulle was awarded it. Thus Queen Margarethe is amongst I tiny group of outstanding world ctiizens-alive or dead. I think President Eisen hour was also President Emeritus of the USA. With an outstanding Grandmother and an outstanding Grandfathet , with 2 brilliant parents intellectually , who knows what Crown Prince Chritain will achieve.

The Danish Royal Family are very different from the British Royal Family. Ours are remote , arrogant at times , wheas the DAnish Royals are formally polite and dignified towards each other in public yet can also show emotions to each other and can be informal and friendly at other times. It was about the relationship between our Parliament and the new Reigning Monarch, the Head of State of Denmark. He was being presented to the Members of Parliament through the short proclamation our Prime Minister read out loud on behalf of the Monarch ( the reigning Monarch never officially speaks in Parliament ). In 1972, when Margrethe became Head of State, she was not even there in person. But a similar proclamation from her was read out load by the then PM ( Jens Otto Krag ). This time it was more of a celebration, because it was not following the death of the former Monarch.

Our Danish Parliament ( Folketinget ) had invited the 6 Royals, who can officially act as Head of State of Denmark. That being King Frederik, Queen Mary, Crown Prince Christian, Queen Margrethe, Prince Joachim and Princess Benedicte. They were guests in our Parliament ( the Reigning Monarch NEVER officially speaks in Parliament ). I can see in these comments, that many ( obviously ) misses most of the symbolic details of this.

King Frederik h had several jobs at the same time from 2000 , when he met Queen Mary. Before tt he d to be pushed reluctantly into his Royal duties by his mother Queen Mary encouraged him to be a Company Director in their private Company in Australia , etxended to Denmark , which has made them millionaires in their own right. She encouraged him to become a serving officer in the Danish Navy , and a lecturer at the Danish equivalent of Sandhurst . He has represented Denmark many times in international events , andencourages Sport at all levels . Recently he took part in a day for disadvantaged children of Primary School age at a n Activity centre , holding the children's hands, talking naturally to them about his own children Our British Royals are too remote , although if Princess Catherine recovers from Cancer , she might encourage Prince William to be King Frederik Mark 2

They have been together more than once before this! I remember, at the 18th birthday party for Crown Prince Christian last year, both Joachim, his wife and 3 of his kids were there. As for this video, Joachim did not really have a choice! It was the Parliament inviting them to witness the proclamation of the new Reigning Monarch to the Members of Parliament. The 6 Royals on the balchony are the only ones, who can officially act as the Head of State of Denmark. King Frederik, Queen Mary, Crown Prince Christian, Queen Margrethe, Prince Joachim and Princess Benedicte. At the British Christmas trip to church with greeting of people outside afterward, I knew most if not all of those who attended church and post-church walk. I knew the British royal family from experience. Difference of Denmark - I didn[t know who Mary was til yesterday! They look lovely, especially Margarethe and Frederik X and Mary. They look as if they are approachable and warm with each other. The Danes and the British monarchs tie together our alliance (I say "our" though I am American, not British). Now more than ever, the alliance with Denmark is of special importance to international challenges both current and looming.

Margrethe did that out of necessity. Joachim's oldest son proved top not be worthy of his title and it was clear that the other children would follow his example. Margrethe knew that they had to be removed at some point, so she made that decision while she was in power rather than leaving that to Frederik later and potentially drawing an immovable wedge between her sons.

My husband is British and still has to get used to King Charles. He said to me, my QUEEN was always there since I remember ( born 1947) . It was a lifelong " relationship ". We got married JAN.1973, I have a dual nationality, and singing our National Anthem, I have to remember not singing " God save the Queen". It still takes some time. I understand that you still have your Queen Margarethe implanted, and why not.❤❤❤❤❤
