Natalie Vergara I’m in high school n Na we’re pretty brutal to our substitutes, in middle school we were even worse. In elementary we were well mannered only because we were just so little and whenever the teacher changed his/her tone even the slightest, we’d get scared and shut up. 😂😂 and tbh whenever I have a sub In high school I just get my attendance taken and sneak out of class with my bag so I won’t get a call home for skipping. You were wayyy off on that. 💀

Love how excited you are! Just a heads up I would recommend having snacks that do not have nuts in them or having a lunch with no nuts just in case you walk into a room with a severe allergy in it. Better safe than sorry!

I’m an education major in South Carolina and the way that I get to hang out with kids (other than student teaching) is working at a day care. I actually work at 2 daycares because girl school is WAY too expensive to not. But you get to teach and you’re with the same kids everyday so you can make a relationship with them and maybe even a difference in their life!

This was so great to see you actually care. As a middle school teacher, I normally just throw out all the busy work i gave them throughout the day with a sub because they most likely didn't explain it or the kids just wrote whatever to make it seem like they finished. We need more subs like you!

You're a natural, Allie!!! I was in the same boat as you--wanted to teach, but couldn't imagine it long term. But then I realized I have such a passion for it for a reason. I went from elementary ed to English, got my AA in English, and now, at my 4-year, I am an English Secondary Ed major. I really hope you end up teaching because schools need more of us!! But, obviously you should do what your heart is telling you to do :)

Girlllll subs do not get there before school starts. Usually 20 minutes early max. I’m in my fifth year of teaching and most subs do not get there that early. Also be careful with peanut butter. So many schools don’t allow it lol.

@@katiek1625 I actually subbed for my best friends class so I knew what I was getting myself into. I had a great day! I loved the kids and the kids LOVED me. They actually begged for me to always be their sub. I went into it with the mentality of not being a dictator. I acted more as a friend and still got the respect I needed. The only not so great part of my day was having a student projectile vomit all over my room in 3rd period.

In my school, there’s a student-teacher program each year during the whole week of teachers’ day. Each subject teacher will choose a student from a class to be the teacher of a specific subject for a week. The student teachers have to make their own lesson plans and powerpoints which will be checked by the teachers or the student subject coordinators. We also have to dress up. So yah lmao

That's so awesome!! I love my advertising classes and honestly can't see myself majoring in anything else because I'm very happy with it! :) That's why I decided to substitute teach in college! It's something I love but because I don't think I want to do it long term, it's perfect!
