As a lorry enthusiast since I was born and now a transport planner in one off the biggest companies in Portugal(Trans Pascoal), I'm really happy with this serie. I think you should take a loan to buy your 1st truck, and make long trips, because its the fastest way to make big money. About resting, my advice is after delivering take the 9h break, iff you are one a shorter trip, calculate the time you have to drive to try and make another delivery with the same shift. As for the truck mods, I recommend the MAN TGA from MADster, the Volvo FM13 from AU44, the Volvo FH by Schumi and the DAF XF105 by Vad&k. Hope I helped you with some mods and a new series idea. Keep up the good work Daggerwin.

15 min: They let you go because you already started turning into the opposite lane. If you want the AI to not stop, you should cross the green light and stop in 1 meter or so (without trying to turn your cabin towards the turning curve). That will not tell the AI that you are trying to enter their lane and they won't stop. Alternatively when you pass a green light and you go straight and you have an AI going left/right and they have to give way, just watch what they are doing. Nice driving.

Daggerwin, one starter truck to consider when you get around to buying, the Volvo FH 16 sleeper cab, has very good engine (420HP/313 KW), excellent torque, and still has a fairly reasonable price tag. a tiny bit cheaper is the renault (380HP/283 KW) but may struggle on the hills.

Was a yardhorse for a year moving trailers in and out of docks with a truck. Even a certified CDL instructor (we didn't need CDLs as we were only in our yard and not on the road he just worked there) was telling me the easiest way to back in was look out the window. A truck driver of 18 years also worked there with us.. he would open his door and look back that way. So i agree with a lot of the other comments where yes looking out the window is in fact realistic. As for the air brakes... yea mate you gotta rev the motor a little to build air pressure faster, the pump runs off the motor. I think we can choke that one up to either pumping your brakes too much or a leaky gladhand grommet (dunno if they have that sort of thing in the game). All in all lovee the video, been watching your farming sim ones but one different about trucking is really cool man! Also from someone who use to be a sound tech for about 4 years in highschool as well as run my own live streams more recently your audio levels are about spot on. I find the shorter trips make for easier control of how long a video is - pickup/dropoff is an easy break, and like this episode 2 trips was not excessive. You can still string trips together to go London-Sardinia, but it'll be a challenge to get a job going the right direction... maybe. Concentrate on the Haz-Mat qualifications, and unlock fragile and high value cargoes for now. Maybe 1-2 points in long distance, but not excessive right now. I play with a mod that removes the GPS window, but keeps the info panel, so you can still switch to view the other status screens. And then rely on the in-cab GPS (if you have one!).

Long Distance is the quickest way to earn money quickly in the early game. More miles means more money. Looking out of the window is entirely up to the driver. When I did long haul trucking, I did it when I needed to make sure I wasn't about to hit parked cars because delivery locations were tightly packed and not suited for vehicles with trailers. Taking out a loan in the early game is an option. Because the money you earn as an owner operator will always be higher than you would be earning as a company driver. Sure you'll have to manage time, maintenance, and fuel, but the overall income will be more than the expenses you will incur.
@Diablothein3 жыл бұрын
A quick note: When you start expanding your fleet, unless there's a mod for it, the lowest spec trucks perform the same way as fully kitted out trucks in terms of hired driver profit. Also, specializing them in long haul and subsequently high value will lead to the fastest return on investment.
@launchcontrol56763 жыл бұрын
I’m a trucker IRL and in my opinion I would put the parking in random in the settings, so when you get to a drop you don’t know what your going to get, makes it more realistic as some will be easier and others won’t.

If you want to add realism you should have the speed limiter (56mph) on the truck as it is a legal requirement on goods vehicles over 7500kg made after 2001. The in cab/built in satnav can be turned off if you set a key for "dashboard map modes" which sets the zoom level and if you go round far enough it turns it off (I use # to be in line with ATS) Air brake simulation is slightly unrealistic as the tanks should not be empty that quick I can only assume Paccar fitted thimbles to that DAF, the only time I have heard the low air alarm on my MAN is when I blew an air hose on the A146 also the A14-A140 junction is missing it's services, there should be a Shell garage with a BurgerKing and terrible HGV parking.
@PotRipp3r3 жыл бұрын
The air brakes wouldn’t normally come on @16:20 as the air pressure would be fine after the distance you’ve just driven. At the start though with low air pressure, push the accelerator a bit and it pumps the air around quicker from HGV driver. :)

Hi Daggerwin, loved this episode of ets2 ! There is a key in the keybindings for the set nav jn the interior. If you assign a key for it you can turn it of and still have a interior with set Nav. Hope this comment finds you.

if you open the console in-game (You need to enable it in the game files if you haven't already done it) and then type g_traffic and then a number depending on how much traffic you want default is 1. I would recommend 2 or 2.5, and then you can also type g_truck_stability, g_trailer_stability, and g_suspension_stiffness and set them all to 0 which makes it more realistic as well.

There's an application called Trucky that you can use rather than the 'second sat nav' as it shows all the details like what you're hauling, how many miles you've got to go, fuel consumption etc. Might be worth looking into!

A small tip for u daggerwin you dont have to idle to build airpressure you can rev te engine to the green or even orange part on your dial to build air faster

If you plan on doing a survival mode, thus making it as realistic as possible, I'd say keep air brake simulation enabled. To lessen the air charging issue, I'd suggest using more the engine brake and retarder to slow down the truck and the actual brakes to just stop the truck; as you approach stop signs, traffic lights or the destination, coast to it rather than accelerating all the way. Also, at least in game, to speed up the air charging process, you can accelerate a bit in neutral, to drive the air compressor faster and charge the air enough to release the brakes. And to add even more realism (this might a bit OTT), you might consider lowering the window before sticking your head outside while backing the trailer in the parking spot. The in-game lights have two steps, use at least the first to turn on the side marker lights.

There is a mod that changes the nav on screen, and all the other info into the middle of the screen. Its called Hemil's Route Advisor. Its in the workshop. As for the air system, you can rev the engine in neutral to get it back faster.

I recommend you Hemil’s Route Advisor. Really good if you want to use in dashboard gps but see all other info in a small bar on the bottom center. It also makes on screen mirrors much smaller. Also check out DP's Realistic Traffic RST. Both in Steam workshop. If you want look into Developer tool (Squirrel has really good tutorial on that). Sound is good.

Will be interesting to see how this series evolves. The trouble with ETS2/ATS is that once you've leveled up a bit and acquired a few AI drivers, the money just starts rolling in faster than you can spend it. I think some serious roleplay/imposed restrictions are going to be required to keep it interesting.

I think the best way is no loan. And then when you are buying a truck make it an old erf Scalia Volvo. Then when you finish the series could be 100% of all roads discovered
