@@MrGreatness412 my guess is the springs that get you high ramps scores also take away a lot of payload. the axles, brakes, frame etc is the same so if you swapped suspension or got a tradesman with the power wagon package I suspect you get a lot of it back. Something else to consider is that the power wagon has a unique radius arm up front that flexes more than the standard suspension but offers a lot less lateral stiffness. That combined with the softer springs and the higher CG probably combine against it.

I understand this is an off road vehicle first, but you guys mentioned 1100 lb payload capacity which makes the truck almost useless for many towing applications. Say you want to take your family camping and you’ve got your wife and two kids with you and that’ll take up say 700 lbs leaving you with just 400 lbs leftover for tongue weight of your trailer and camping gear. Or even worse is if you and your family want to simply put an ATV in the bed of the truck and go have fun at an ATV park you’re possibly over payload capacity!
@AkioWasRight6 жыл бұрын
Well, it's not supposed to be a do-everything, no sacrifice vehicle, it's primary an off-road vehicle that gives up capacity for its off-road abilities. Still, you at least can do some towing and hauling with it, and you at least have options for lighter, lower spec and higher capacities.
@jamesvelvet36126 жыл бұрын
My guess is someone is confusing "cargo capacity" with "payload capacity". They are different. Cargo capacity is the rating of well, cargo. The calculus takes into account the following: 150lb person in each of the available seats. Say a ruck has 6 seats x 150 lbs each. That is 900 lbs. Those 900 lbs are deducted from the payload capacity and leaves a cargo capacity {what you can put in the bed) of 1,100 lbs. Otherwise, six big dudes would exceed the weight this truck could carry. If I am wrong and the payload is less than a Ridgeline or minivan then Fiat needs to go back to the drawing board ;-)
@mark70676 жыл бұрын
@@jamesvelvet3612 You might be surprised. The standard payload of the previous model was only slightly less at around 1,450lbs. If you add in features, it's only less than that. I don't see why the new one would be much better.

@Jim Bond Yea, I'm an old guy now, but when I was young and drinking, hell we pushed everything to max. 35 years later, I still have my leg bleed from where the my motorcycle fell on me and the tail pipe burned threw my shin and I was riding over bolders in a dry river bed after a 1/5 of JD, not to smart, but it was fun. We never had anyone get out to spot, what's that all about.

@Jim Bond not everybody who gets an off-road truck gets it for fun... some people just need to get to places or work in places harder to reach. They don't want "fun to drive" for everyday commute/work- they want easy and relaxed.

@Jim Bond I used it on my 2018 Power Wagon, I mean I have it so why the hell would I not use it right? That said I also am on the old school side of things so when I play my truck I'd just lock the diffs and go real easy on the brakes going a trail.
@chrisgleeton68235 жыл бұрын
Has Chrysler released the official fording depth for the PowerWagon? Usually manufacturers will say the fording depth is as deep as the middle of the hubs, and it has to do with the differential vents that are usually located on top of the differential themselves. Submerge those vents, and you'll let muddy water into your diffs - not good! BUT, it's possible that RAM has relocated the diff vents on the Powerwagon to the higher location - a common aftermarket mod on off-road vehicles that will be doing a lot of fording. It would be cool if that's what they have done.

Is seems like RAM isn't measuring their ground clearance from the lowest point on their axels, like many other manufacturers. I measured my buddys Frontier and the claimed ground clearance was measured at the lowest spot of the read dif. But, the lowest spot on the Power Wagon axels is their difs but there is no way that is 14" off the ground, looks more like 9. Can you clarify?

I thought the power wagon was built on a 2500 chassis. Why are the towing and payload numbers so low? My old 05 Ram 1500 with the 5.7 had a payload of 1200 pounds. It has the capacity of a 1/2 ton with the price tag of a 1 ton.

If the power wagon don’t care then why was that truck beeping during the entire video. Sounds annoying.

Manley Williams because they didn’t turn the sensors off. They even say the water/ mud is setting them off. I recently had a lot of problems with snow sticking to mine and setting them off lately.

Drew w same here with snow & ice making them sound. Fortunately after a few seconds they disable themselves automatically. Same with towing, the rear sensors disable after a few seconds. They can be manually disabled/enabled by a push button on the center stack. Front & rear buttons to allow control over each.

Not the same engine this is totally different built from the ground up for towing and low end torque
@AmericaFirstKorey6 жыл бұрын
It’s actually a completely different engine than the SRT. Different camshaft, intake manifold, and cylinder heads (Eagle on PW vs. Apache on SRT). HP = torque x rpm / 5252. On an off road truck, it makes no sense to build the peak torque at 4,500+ rpm (like a max effort g3 Hemi). Low lift and mild duration cam + eagle heads give it a relatively low torque peak and more power in the rpms the truck will be used when off road. Btw I have a 15’ PW.

Do your research and you'll see that RAMs have far more issues than the competition. I'd avoid them at all cost. "It has the best interior" is not enough reason to have a truck with the fastest resale value losing properties, the fastest ruster, the fastest transmission issues, etc.

That's just what FCA advertises. I put air bags in my 16 PW and pull 14,000 on the ball ( 16' dump trailer and 4 ton excavator with multiple buckets) almost daily. The bags don't hinder flex and they weren't expensive either, see I consider it a win win. Other than the crappy gas mileage, it's a beast that does everything I want it to.
@lonespartan312895 жыл бұрын
@@bobvincent4841 that means you are exceeding the vehicle rating. It is rated to tow what it can based on the stopping performance, not it's ability to get a load moving. Maybe you aren't to far over the tow capacity to be considered dangerous, but you still shouldn't.
@tommyd1963ify5 жыл бұрын
@@lonespartan31289 but similar(non Power Wagon) Ram 2500s are rated to tow much more. I've read that it is because of the liability of lockers, low range, disconnects, and a heavy load. Never underestimate the ability of the general public to do something really stupid and blame the manufacturer.
