Nice video mate! I’m a retired US driver; I did pull what we call doubles-2 28 foot pup trailers connected with a dolly. On toll roads in some states you could pull 3 pups or 2 full size trailers -48 and 53 foot. In some western states on regular roads you can pull a full-size trailers connected connected to a pup. And then there’s Michigan. Instead of me describing it, just look for videos and images of “Michigan gravel trains”. Like you, I made a point of backing the first trailer and dolly when I could just because; short trailers are much harder to reverse than a long trailer, as anybody with a boat can attest. I was starting to get the hang of it until that company stopped basing pups at my terminal. I’m fascinated with all the different combos used around the world-Scandinavia, NZ, Canada and of course OZ.😎

@@michaelwheatley3873 I’ve seen some wiggle wagons (a-trains) while driving in the US on holidays. It’s always interesting to check out the different combinations used in other countries

Spent 9 months delivering the cooling tower legs and evaporator core legs to Mt Piper back in the early 1980's. Overnight from Mt Thorley through the Bylong Valley and unload the next morning at Mt Piper. Overweight and overlength and 80 kilometres of dirt road. Head back to Mt Thorley along the Putty Road and do it all again the next night. V8 Fiat that maxxed out at 150 k.p.h.

Good on you bro, hope everything works out well for you. I subbed on your channel in NZ and just subbed on here. Yeah bro, it's hotter here than NZ and the humidity just drains you. Take care bro.

Thought that looked familiar. Once ran with a company out of Lidsdale (Western Gold) carting coal into there. Might be hot in summer but bloody cold in winter. Lithgow was so cold everybody burned coal in their homes. You could smell it right back to Little Hartley.

Yeah I did notice a lot of snow signs between Bathurst and Lithgow

Hey mate, great vid. Looks like a pretty good outfit you're working for. What prompted the move over the ditch and did you have to anything with your license to pull those trains? Be safe over there brother!

With 30 odd years driving b-doubles in NZ I had to prove my experience with reference letters and just converted my class 5 NZ license to an Aussie MC (multi-combination). Dawsons are amazing, letting me graduate up from singles to double road trains, to eventually triples. It was just time for me to give it a go.

Yes another lorry vid and I didn't think tarps were still used in this modern day 😅

We have tautliner trailers at Dawson’s but most of our trailers are flat deck and we do tarp loads quite regularly

How does it compare to our 50MAX units in NZ? Does the weight feel far heavier or is it pretty much the same as like the difference between a 40-50ton unit?
@Tricktrucker16 күн бұрын
You definitely notice the extra length and weight but most of the roads in Aus that I’ve driven on so far are pretty flat. There’s not a lot of steep hills and winding roads
@Jesse-st1qw16 күн бұрын
@ missing the remutakas and paraparas already huh? 😂 Keep up the good work bro, I’ll keep my eyes peeled for the next one.
