Mikes not knowledgeable enough to turn wrenches on a drag car and do everything that’s required between passes at the track when he can’t take it to a shop. And that’s not a knock against him, he’s literally said that I videos in the past, and is the reason why he got out of drag racing the z06. He’s a car guy, just not a working on cars guy.

@@mustangmike3830I did get nervous. My heart was pounding, I lost track of what gear I was in after passing the starting line just to back up and forgot to let go of the reverse lock and put it in first gear 😂. And it was my first time drag racing the car since I just got 3 weeks ago.

@carjacker6480 it happens. my 1st time in my 05 I was like 19 & tried doing a burnout. I never had a car with TCS before and didn't turn it off. Kept stalling in the burnout box. I was like 🤦‍♂️

The waiting part at the drag strip is what I always hated. Back in the late '80s Englishtown had a Wednesday night test and tune and Friday night was street cars. I remember Friday was $25 and my favorite time to go with my own car. I had a few times that I made a pass, drove right back into the staging lanes, and made another pass. Most times the wait was real short.

Mike Hellhorse Performance in Houston has a twin turbo kit for the Mustang already so you could send it off to them and get it outfitted and at least have the kit on for when tuning is available still cool anyways even without tuning.

The way to get around the long waits is to "Rent the track". Do an invite only event and race your friends. Not all tracks do this but if they have a night where the track is closed you can usually rent it for events.

The Dark Horse seems to be specifically built for road course racing. If you want to run the 1320, stick with the base Gt. Lighter and more money left over on the table to go faster.

Mike I've been in thr Mustang scene for a long time. Evolution Performance was know for blowing up a lot of lightly boosted mustangs. Coyotes and shelbys. I would use JDM Engineering in NJ, or Rob Shoemaker.

Growing up in the late 1960s and early 1970s, running a 12 in any Muscle Car was almost unheard of in Stock off the Showroom Floor. Some of today’s Soccer Mom cars, SUVs and Vans might clean up on the Drag Strip! Would have been fun to see a 69 Roadrunner taken down by a Grocery Getter. Looking back at the Muscle Car Era, I tend not to be as impressed as I was back in the day. To the point, buying a car at Mecum or B.J. Auction, I’d be buying more for the style of the car, vs the performance. I see a car go for over $100 K and think, I can get a modern dependable car that would run rings around the old M.C. So, maybe I would still be after my 340 Cuda if it crossed over the block!

You could put a nitrous kit on the car like a 150 shot a wet kit where it ads fuel with nitrous shouldn't need any tuning anything above that would but talk to Andrew im sure he could get you set up. I had a kit on my car back in 08 from new tell 70,000 miles never 1 issue just have to change plugs every so often depending how much you use it.

i stopped drag racing about 20 years ago for a few reasons. the lines is one. second is i never wear "GEAR" when riding my motorcycle (except a helmet)(32 year riding streetbikes). i hate wearing leather jackets as they are too "heavy" and hot. i only wear gloves in the winter and will ride as long as there isnt snow on the ground and the temperature is above 40F. i will admit that i am curious as to what my current bike (2019 zx14r w/200rwhp) would do. even after 2 years it still scares the crap out of me.
