First Drive: I just Bought a 2018 BMW i3s REx and drove it 200 miles home.

Hybrid is when either the gas or power from battery is being use to propel the EV, the rex is not a Hybrid because the REX only charges the battery and does not directly propel the EV in any way. You can also Bimmercode to unlock the SOC to kick in when its 75% on Battery. I drive a 2017 i3 REX and I use alot of the REX, for longer trips I actually keep a Jerry in the front just incase I drain the REX. Word of advice, try to maintain keep your speed lower to keep up with SOC, if you drive too fast, the REX cannot keep up and it wil not do SOC and be very loud

I owned a 2015 i3 Rex and upgraded to a 2017 i3 Rex in 2020 and love my i3. Best car I have ever owned, never had a problem (knock on wood) and its super fun to drive. Hope you enjoy yours, it looks loaded.

Agreed. I LOVE my i3S. Enjoying the heck out of it. I was fortunate to find this one fully loaded for a good price. Sold the 2007 Prius I bought brand new. That was a fantastic car. Super reliable. Hoping this proves to be as reliable. It definitely makes me smile!

I have the same car in the UK and I love it. One thing that surprised me is you getting passed by trucks when doing 66mph. Are trucks not speed limited? In the UK they are limited to 56mph.

That’s super interesting! Here they are not limited. They fly by. I wasn’t wanting to keep up as the energy efficiency drops significantly above 65MPH, and that was my first trip driving an i3 after I bought it. Was driving home from the purchase.

Is that an aftermarket center display with Carplay?

No. It is OEM. The larger screen is an option. CarPlay was in the package. This particular model came fully loaded.

I like the beautiful color combination (red/black) and the large navigation monitor. Why didn't you overtake the truck? Is that not possible with this car?

I could easily have overtaken the truck. I had no desire to. In fact, I drafted a couple to get the most efficiency out of my ride home from the purchase. This car is surprisingly quick.
